Back in February of 2020 I pulled all the photos together of our current home into a Home Tour post, which I have updated since then with spaces as I have shared them. Of course, we do seasonal home tours with other decor bloggers throughout the year (see my spring tour here) but today I thought I’d share a newly updated home tour today. I took a walk through video of our first floor and had my daughter (who is great a making videos) pull it together for another complete view of the space.
If you are relatively new around here, we built this house four years ago. The time has flown by, in some ways we feel like we’ve lived here forever and in other ways I still think of it as our new home.
Here is the video if you like to see things in that format, I’ll share more about each room below.
For this post, I wanted to share all the updates we have made over the four years, beginning with the updated front door color, the teal blue just wasn’t me. I switched it out for a more neutral grayish blue and I feel like it works much better with the overall look of our home.
The entry is the first spot you see, after changing the decor several times, I realized that what we needed was a pop of color on the front door . It provided a focal point at the end of the long hallway leading to our front door. I also made over the console to look like its pricier twin, you can see that here.
One of the first spaces I pulled into shape here was my home office, however, once everyone started working from home it became my husband’s office and I am instead working in our upstairs loft. Here is a look at the office now that we made it work for him. I’ll show you my work space a bit later on.
You can see all the details of his home office HERE. Click to see any sources below.
I very recently shared this post about our dining room, it was last on the list for paint but we finished it up this winter. We do use this room for entertaining and even for homework on occasion, you can read the post here.

Our living room has evolved quite a bit over the last few years, with new floors, trim and new couches. Our white couches are going strong, and my trick to keep them clean has really helped.
See more of our Living Room in our Spring Home Tour HERE.
The biggest change we made on our first floor is to overhaul the builder standard kitchen to make it more our own. I decided when we built the house to take the included features rather than pay to upgrade to things that weren’t really what I wanted. It took a few years but last year we finished off the space with new counters, sink and range/range hood.
Along with the kitchen updates, we added cabinetry along the back wall of the breakfast room and I ‘IKEA hacked” glass display cabinets to go on the top. This provided great storage and was overall, a budget friendly project. All the details on how we did it are in this post here.
I am always appreciative of the functionality of having a mudroom off our kitchen, but I had to make it pretty too. I added a mural and trim, you can see more of our mudroom here. It leads to our pantry and our cleaning closet, and our garage.
Also on our first floor is this small powder room that I wallpapered and added new trim in, it’s perfect for guests now. You can read the post about it and how to install wallpaper HERE.
Making our laundry room more functional and organized has really helped streamline the laundry process. We first built this folding shelf, then came back and hung some inexpensive stock cabinets, the space looks so better and is much more functional now.
When I moved my husband into the home office, I set up a desk area for myself in our loft.
My favorite room in the house might be our bedroom. I surprised even myself when I opted for the charcoal velvet drapes and found that I loved the moodiness they brought to the space. Nothing in this room is expensive, you can see all the items broken down by price in this post here.

My daughter’s room is definitely the most ‘evolving’ space in our home, as I have shared three different versions in the time we’ve lived here. I most recently showed off the sage green version, with a new bed and the updates she selected.
Her bedroom sources are here~
Below you can see her earlier decor, here is the first version (which is crazy popular on Pinterest due to the paint color I think, (you can read more about all the paint colors here).
Later on, we both tired quickly of the bright paint and decided to tone things down with white walls with a blush pink accent wall. You can read more here.
Boys rooms can be challenging, both the decor and getting them clean enough to share with the world! Here are our the two teenage boys rooms in our home, though in real life they are never this clean.
You can see the black and white checked room here. My other son’s room is below, he is at college but we still keep is ready for him whenever he gets to come home.
We added a new deck on the back of our home which gave us a ton of outdoor living space. You can read about our inspiration here and see the final reveal here. We also added cafe lights, the how-to do it post is here.

We’ve knocked out quite a bit in four years, it has been a fun process to make this house our home and it has served our family well. We truly appreciate all of you taking time to share in our journey!

Thank you–we love our backyard view. It’s why we bought this home, it’s pretty all year though our view right now is the best before the trees really fill in. That is the good part of winter! XO,
