Design Ideas for a Raised Composite Outdoor Deck
This spring we had a raised composite deck built on the back of our home, I shared my decor inspiration post for it HERE. While it was being constructed I took advantage of the great spring sales this year to order all the furniture online. Today I wanted to show you how the space came out.
For the most part, I was pretty true to the plan above with the exception of purchasing a less expensive coffee table. Unfortunately the one I wanted sold out before I could ordered it.
We have it set up to have two areas out here, a sofa area and a dining area. We also have space for our grill and the entertaining bar area I showed you last week.
You can read the post about how I made over this table HERE.
I really love having this sectional out here. I will say it is a bit on the smaller size, but it works really well in our space as our deck isn’t huge at 16×20′. The one I purchased is sold out, but this one is quite similar. I have had some inquiries on Instagram about how I keep it clean, I ordered a cover for the sectional, so when we aren’t out here I keep the cover on it to protect the white cushions.
This rug is actually a mat (similar here and here) I love it because it is a plastic like material that is completely waterproof and seems indestructible.
After an exhausting search for chairs, I wound up ordering chairs that were similar to the sectional, they are sold out but these are similar. They are slightly oversized, so they work as seating with the sectional and at our dining table.
Having a large table for outdoor entertaining was important to me, this one is a good option made with all-weather teak. It’s important for an outdoor table to be comfortable for everyone to sit around and to hold up well outside in the elements.
I didn’t use the umbrella from the first collage, as this one is a much better price. We’ve had some strong winds and get plenty of shade back here so I actually am not really sure we need an umbrella but this one is so cute (and affordable), it is hard to resist.
Over Memorial Day we had some good friends over to enjoy the space, social distance style. If there was ever a time I am grateful for outdoor space and fresh air it is now. A similar tray is HERE, it is my go to for making platters for easy outside entertaining these days (even for just our family!).
The coffee table and the white ginger jar came from At Home stores, I ordered them online and picked up at the store. I still have some final touches out here–we’d like to add string lights and a few more planters but all in good time. For now we’re just so happy to be able to get outside!
You can also see how we added string lights to this space in this post here, an easy upgrade!

What an inspirational desk! Beautiful! Classy! Just a quick note – I think I would add a larger mounted light fixture — just a thought. Love your blog and love your ideas. THANKS!
