Our Refreshed Summer Outdoor Space

Welcome to our freshly updated outdoor space! I am so happy to be able to share our summer deck with you all today and talk a little about how we’ve made it easy to entertain out here. Last year we built and furnished this deck off the back of our home, and this year we’ve made it a fun, fresh entertaining space thanks to the affordable outdoor collections from Walmart.

We use this space all the time, it was the perfect haven for our family during the last year and now that we can invite the world back in, we’re excited to use it to entertain family and friends. To celebrate the start of summer I felt like fun and fresh pops of color were called for. Walmart Home has a great selection of outdoor decor and entertaining items making it simple to refresh your outdoor space.

I like to think of our deck area as another room in our home and have tried to outfit it as such. One of the key components we added was this large aqua adjustable umbrella (and a stand to hold it so we could move it around as needed). I love the fun pop of turquoise which became the jumping off point for my new bright color scheme. This affordable umbrella gives us shade during the day making our space usable even during the middle of the day.

I also added a new assortment of fun pillows to brighten up the space. These yellow and white pillows are just $12 and are reversible to a bright yellow and white stripe on the back. I paired them with some neutral pillows with plenty of texture for interest. I love that you can switch out the pillows as needed and the bright yellow is perfect for summer. I also added this bright yellow rug to tie the space together, it’s just $70 for a 5×8′.

Another new addition to the space are these great striped poufs, not only do they add more color but they are perfect for putting your feet up or holding a tray of cold drinks. They can also be moved around for additional seating, making them so useful when we entertain.

Last year I added this versatile entertaining bar (with a quick coat of paint to make it cohesive with our other decor), it holds drinks, works as a buffet when we entertain and when not in use for a party makes for a nice plant stand.

Walmart makes summer entertaining easy. This set of glass pitchers is only $28 for two, perfect for serving lemonade or iced tea. I also love using these large glass beverage jars for parties, because cold drinks are a summer essential.

I scooped up these aqua outdoor glasses (a great deal at 12 for $20) and also some extra white platters. These are so useful when serving, especially carrying food in and out of the house and I like the classic styling.

This rattan lantern comes with a battery powered candle for when the sun goes down, though we also use our Edison style string lights for extra ambiance after dark. I added a matching planter for another pop of aqua and filled it with some annuals. I also found this affordable ceramic planter, it looks pretty on a table holding a plant or flowers.
