Before I show you our entire new deck, today I wanted to show you this easy outdoor project I did over the weekend to create an entertaining bar for out here.
When I was looking for furniture for this space, I first concentrated on finding a dining table and conversation area, you can see what I selected in my inspiration post here. After I made those choices, I realized we were also going to need a table to use for serving when we eat out here. I also wanted something to use as a bar when we entertain and for an overflow place for when my husband is grilling to set platters and such.
I looked at quite a few outdoor bars and tables and finally settled on this one since the price was great, and I liked the simple lines. While it wasn’t the color I wanted, I knew I could easily fix that with some paint.
This table provides really useful space. We already used it when we had some friends over for drinks last weekend but the warm brown tone of the wood bothered me. The rest of the deck is cooler gray, black and white so it really stood out.
I wanted to make sure that when I painted it it would have a durable finish so I could leave it outside, so I set up my Wagner Studio Spray Tent and used my Wagner FLEXIO Paint Sprayer to quickly give this table a fresh look. I like using the spray tent even though there is very little overspray with the Wagner sprayers, as it protects the floor as well as the surrounding area. I used this outdoor paint (below) from Lowe’s in an off the shelf white.
The FLEXIO Sprayer set up is simple, this model even comes with disposable plastic bag liners for the paint canister which makes clean up a breeze. I did have to thin the paint I used with a small amount of water, I think it is a little thicker than a regular indoor paint but otherwise it sprayed on super fast and easily. My husband even decided he wanted to try out this sprayer for himself and he gave it rave reviews.
The table soon was completely painted and really, I think it looks like it came this way. We gave it two full coats and let it dry well, then we moved it out onto the deck.
It has already been a great addition, last night we had our first family dinner outside and having this table to hold all the food was great. It’s so nice to have an overflow area to keep the dinner table less cluttered.
Now, all the furniture pieces on our deck look cohesive which helps the space feel finished off. Not to mention, it is easy to style the plain white for any occasion (I have a 4th of July post here!) and just generally it will work well for all sorts of other entertaining. Even if it’s just our family, it is still nice to have extra space to hold food or drinks, and especially ice–always key in the summer!
If you would like to see our whole deck reveal, you can click here, and see how we added string lights in this post here. Also, I highly recommend adding a paint sprayer to your tool collection. Once you have one, there is no limit to the DIY/painting projects you can do. We’ve used them for countless projects (like the cabinet I just salvaged from our basement and Christy freshened up her mailbox last month), these are such useful tools.

What a perfect size piece for the patio. I need to add something to mine for drinks and snacks. Looks fantastic in white too.

Love this! Your new deck and decor look amazing! I was wondering if you like the Flexio better than the HomeRight sprayer? I have the HW sprayer, but looking into the Flexio.

Hi–I like them both! I suggest the Flexio for larger projects but the HomeRight is great for for smaller projects like furniture. The Flexio has more power and does have the disposable bags which makes clean up a breeze!
