Today I wanted to just pop back in with a post with the final details on my husband’s new home office including all the sources for the other pieces in the room like the inexpensive bookcase, the landscape art and the decor. If you read down, I am also sharing my easy trick to hang these pretty gold wall sconces without having to hardwire them.
In my last few posts I have already talked quite a bit about this space so hopefully you haven’t tired of hearing about it but I wanted to make sure I have shared all the details here. Getting all our offices switched around took up our spare time since the holidays but now this system is working so much better for all of us.
I already shared about the desk (and other options we considered) here. I wanted my husband to have a comfortable chair since he’d be in this space all day long. I selected this leather swivel option here, I am really pleased with the quality and love the look of the leather in the room.
When I ordered the desk this bookshelf was on sale so I added it to my cart. When it came in, I realized it was a little shorter than I expected but that was a lucky accident. I had originally planned to hang the artwork that is above the bookcase on the wall behind the desk. My husband’s one change to my design plan was to have this art where he could see it during the day (vs. behind him), which I admit was a pretty practical request.
We have since hung the art on the wall, rather than letting it lean on the bookcase, so this way now he can see it from his desk. That change left me wondering what to put on the wall behind his desk, since you see this space when you enter our home I wanted it to look finished. A mirror would have normally been my choice, but having a mirror behind you during conference calls isn’t ideal, as it would reflect anyone coming and going in our hallway. Luckily, the new spring Studio McGee line launched right as I was searching and this landscape picture was perfect.
The fern was just another lucky Studio McGee find, but trust me, you need one. For $15 this is one of the best faux plants I have seen. I keep moving it around the house, it looks good anywhere.
The final touch was the gold sconces on the wall I used to balance out the artwork. I have loved the style of these for awhile and been hoping to use them somewhere in our home. They aren’t hard wired, I simply employed the popular instagram trick of adding a remote controlled puck light where the bulb goes, so no wiring needed. They were simple to hang and add some extra light in the back of the room. I can do a follow up post on how easy this trick if this doesn’t make sense!

You can find all the sources in the room below if I missed anything. Details on the wall color is in my last post here.
