Today I am sharing my new blue and white at home workspace. I created it out of the rarely used open loft area in our home, which gives me a quiet space to work in during the day.
I figured I’d fully close the loop and today share some quick pictures of what I did to create this new workspace for myself. Once I switched over my office so that my husband could use it, I needed a place for me to go to do work during the day. This space is still a bit thrown together but I thought I’d go ahead and share it as it is without the pressure of making it perfect.
I shared this space in our home before here previously. It is basically an open loft that originally (when we built the house) I thought my daughter would use when she had her friends over. That does happen rarely, but for the most part they tend to stay more in her bedroom these days so this area was going unused. The other advantage is that it is very centrally located in our home, unlike my former office which is down a hall enclosed with doors, and so working here I feel like I keep better tabs on my kids while they are doing their online school during the day.
The beautiful blue velvet couch was part of a collaboration with Article a few years back, and I love having it in here. It is perfect to is anchor this space, sometimes it is nice to have a place to sit and work that is not at a desk so having a couch in here is perfect.
I didn’t buy anything new for this space, everything we had on hand already. I just brought my blue and white accessories from storage and added some faux florals and called it done. I would like to find some sort of closed storage console for the wall on the right in the above picture, something to hold files and such (where you see the gray table below), or I am sort of thinking about building in some Billy bookcases like we did in our last home.
The door above is the closet where I store all the home decor I am not using, like throw pillows, art, florals and pictures. As you can imagine over the years I have acquired quite a collection! The closet desperately needs some organization right now but it’s a great extra space and it is convenient to have it right here where I am working.
It is nice to have a couch in here so that people come hang out with me, my kids will often flop down and talk about their day etc., they probably use it more than I do. I moved the same desk from my office up here, and repurposed a dining room chair. The drapes came from HomeGoods last year, but I linked some beautiful ones that are similar in the widget below.
Here is a list of all the sources in the room, just click the picture for more information.

I love it. I have my office in the loft and I love it. I can see half the downstairs and half of the upstairs, so I don’t feel closed in either. Yours looks amazing.
