With two girls who have grown up during the years we were blogging, we’ve decorated a lot of girl’s bedrooms. It may even be my favorite space to create. Though of course, the girls have their own opinions about their spaces, which we always take into account. I’ll quickly share the iterations of my daughter’s room below, it’s fun to look back and see how it grew up with her.
We were discussing some updates to her current room (she recently switched bedrooms in our current home), though for the most part I have let her decorate however she liked at this stage of her life. Mostly she likes LED lights and photos of friends, along with some tapestries on the walls. It’s not blog-worthy, but again it’s her space. We were discussing that she needed some better storage which led us to look at beds with storage drawers underneath them, like the one we found here, which led to a discussion about some other (very budget-friendly) updates to polish up her space.
Here’s a look back at her last room, I really loved this room. She only lived in it for about six months, as we moved to our home out in the country shortly after it was finished. Unfortunately, this bed while a great deal, didn’t do well during the move (the movers dismantled it and I couldn’t get it back together correctly) so she no longer uses it. (A similar bed is here) I also recently bought her a new mattress and it’s a great value and very comfortable. The block print pillow shams are a favorite, similar ones are available here. The fringe duvet cover was also a great find, a similar set here.
The previous version of her room is above, also a fun room and when she was in her pink stage. It was so pretty, the only reason it was redo was the popular (but hateful!) LED lights pulled huge chunks of paint off when we took them down, and we completely had to patch and paint the room over again. You can see more here.
Above is the first version of her room in this home, this blue-green color is really popular, it quickly became a favorite on Pinterest. It’s a fun, vibrant color but after a few years we decided it was a bit too bright for all of us, and thus we moved to the white with the pink accent wall.
One last look (way) back, this room is probably my favorite! Of course she was little when we lived here, and the twin beds were so sweet, and convenient for sleepovers. The dollhouse was mine as a child, and my great uncle painstakingly glued all the tiny shingles on it, we loved this space. You can see more about it here.
I often get questions about the paint colors in these rooms, so here’s a graphic (and a full post here) with more information.
Here are some of the fun finds I rounded up for inspiration for her latest room (all items can be easily found here), we need to replace some of the furniture she’s had that we’re now using in other rooms. I do like the storage under the bed, it makes a lot of sense to make use of that space. She likes the look of a boho rattan headboard too, which is another fun option and popular with her age group.
I am all about giving her organization, hopefully to encourage life skills😉, and these fantastic turntables are perfect for toiletries. I also love these woven baskets that are very affordable. Of course, she insists on having a lighted mirror in her room for getting ready. You can see all these items in our Amazon store HERE.
I am not sure how extensive a room makeover we’ll be doing, but it’s always fun to get creative and come up with ideas, I hope you agree!
