We get asked frequently about paint colors, especially for bedrooms, so I thought it would be beneficial to wrap up some of the best colors we have used into one post. Much of the traffic in this regard comes off Pinterest, where people searching for either decor ideas or paint colors come directly to our site in search of a paint color. One of our most popular posts on Pinterest is the post about my daughter’s room (above), and we frequently get inquiries as to what color is on her walls (even though it’s in the post). If you read our newsletter you know that we just redid this room (again!), I’ll share some pics of that at the end so be sure to read down.
The answer to what that bright aqua color is above is Behr Shimmering Pool. I loved this bright and fun room, but I always caution that this is a pretty BRIGHT color. Perfect for a girls room yes, but to be honest after a year with it we decided to tone it down and painted three of her walls white, and instead painted a blush pink accent wall behind her bed. We both felt much more calm in her space with this color scheme.
You can see more of this room in the post about it here. The color we used on the accent wall is Sherwin Williams Innocence, a pretty pale blush pink. I requested it be mixed at 50% saturation, after the Shimmering Pool color I wasn’t taking chances. The other walls were painted with one of my favorite whites, Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White, which is a nice clean white.
Here is a picture of the latest version of her room, you can read more here, it is now painted a pale sage green (which seems to be an “in” color right now). We used the color Silver Sage by Benjamin Moore. It’s very soft and pretty and not too young for a teen. I will share more pictures of the room soon, we’re still finalizing all her decor. I shared in our weekly newsletter that we weren’t really planning a room makeover but when I removed her LED lights, they pulled chips of paint off her walls so we really were left with no choice.
Another beautiful color, perfect for any bedroom is Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, as Christy used in her daughter’s room here. It has a perfect blue-gray color which is soothing for any room. This color would also work nicely in a boys room as it has gray-blue undertones.
This is another pretty girls room, this one Christy designed for a teenage friend and filled with pretty vintage finds. The wall color is similar to Pebble Beach by Benjamin Moore. I really love the tea cart as a nightstand, such a fun idea.
Here is another pretty paint color, Glidden’s Almost Aqua in Christy’s daughter’s room (when she was ten!), so this room dates back quite a bit but the decor still works today.
The final color I’ll share today is Sherwin Williams Rhinestone, which one of my all time favorites (you can read the post all about it here). What I like about this color is that it changes throughout the day and in different lights and goes from pale blue to gray to even white, and all are pretty. I love this color and used it in the kitchen and breakfast in our last home.
