Today I’m sharing the “reveal” of the room that Annabelle and I have been working on together this summer. It was such a fun project to tackle together!
Last week, I shared the before photos and the inspiration board that we came up with. You can check out the before pics in {this} post, but here’s a quick reminder of what we started with:
We had already moved the furniture around in the above photo, so it’s not a true before, but it gives you a good idea of where we started.
The room belong to Annabelle’s good friend, Juliette, who is sixteen. We wanted to create a space that is soothing, beautiful, and elegant enough to take her into her college years.
Here’s the inspiration board we came up with:
Juliette approved the board and told us to just go for it–no need to consult with her every step of the way. Her mother, Leslie, and I worked together on the budget so that there would be no surprises. As you all know, I’m all about finding the best deals possible, so we managed to get quite a bit of bang for our buck.
We kept the paint color on the walls (similar to Benjamin Moore’s Pebble Beach, although we can’t find the actual color anywhere right now!), the tufted headboard, most of the furniture, and the custom Euro shams and bedskirt. We sold or donated the bean bag chair, pink butterfly chair, and small bookshelf. I painted the pink dresser gray and turned it into a jewelry station (more on that here).
Sources are at the end of the post, but for now I’ll just share all the pretty after shots.
Changing out hardware is one of the easiest ways to update a space; Ju’s closet pulls were pink but we switched them out for gold glass knobs.
We also changed her wall hooks out for gold ones and hung her practice tutu and pointe shoes up–pretty and functional.
As usual, I don’t order an entire bedding set; I like to layer colors and patterns. The pillows are HomeGoods, and the comforter is Restoration Hardware.
The bar cart/nightstand is one of my favorite pieces ever and I plan to use it again in the future–it’s just the right height to be a nightstand, plus it’s absolutely gorgeous.
We started with one tufted slipper chair since Juliette already has a denim futon in her room, but eventually I’d love for her to have a second matching chair. These could easily transition to her first apartment; they’re timeless and lovely.
If you hadn’t guessed from the decor, Juliette is a very talented ballerina.
We mixed colors and patterns on the bed, but stuck with the muted pastels that make the room feel so peaceful.
This was the first time I’ve used this rhinestone-bedazzled curtain rod and it’s gorgeous.
The chandelier over the bed is the perfect fit for this room; I’m hanging another one just like it over the sitting area. Both are installed over what used to be can/recessed lights. THIS conversion kit was a snap to use, and so much easier than putting in a new electrical box!
You know I had to include a few thrifted pieces, like the brass tray:
I think we were all thrilled with how her room turned out. In fact, Annabelle’s sleeping over tonight, because it’s the perfect room for hosting friends!

If the widget isn’t working for you (sometimes it acts up if you’re on a phone), then here’s a traditional source list:
Bar cart (used as nightstand)
Chandelier | Recessed light converter kit | Ceiling medallion
Sheer curtain and blingy curtain rod
Gold desk lamp (here), (here) and (here)
Ghost chair and Swivel desk chair
Matelesse coverlet | Pastel bedding
White cutwork lamp, gold “J”, apothecary jars, topiary, bulletin board, gold and glass shadow box, throw pillows on bed: HomeGoods
Tributes ballet book (out of print; must buy used)
Knobs (on closet)

It look fabulous. You guys did an amazing job.
What a beautiful room! The wall color is similar to Katie’s here at home, North Star. Looks gray in some lights, blue in others. I love the idea of using a bar cart for a night stand. Might need to keep that in mind when we update our master bedroom. And that tufted chair, what a steal!!!
