Jewelry Station and a Giveaway

Last week, I shared the reveal of Juliette’s beautiful new bedroom {it’s here if you missed it}, and I promised I’d come back with a few more photos of the old pink dresser that got a makeover into an elegant jewelry station.

This is what the dresser looked like when we started the project:

pink dresser before

It was good quality and very sturdy; it just needed a makeover.

Our posts contain affiliate links.  If you make a purchase after clicking on these links, we will earn a small commission, which helps to keep our content free.  You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise, since that would be tacky!

I pulled out my Rust-Oleum chalked paint in Country Gray {available here} and my new FinishMax Extra and got to work.

I’ll have more details about working with the FinishMax Extra paint sprayer next week on the HomeRight blog, but basically, the biggest difference between this machine and the previous FinishMax is that this one comes with a variety of spray tips, which means that you don’t have to thin your paint!  We’re giving a FinishMax Extra away at the end of this post, so be sure to scroll down and enter.

The Chalked paint also goes on beautifully with a brush, if you’d prefer to paint that way or are covering a small area.  One thing I always do when working with chalk-type paints is take my can to the paint store and ask them to shake it before I begin my project.  There’s so much chalk (duh) in this kind of paint that it can settle to the bottom in between uses.

I used two light coats to cover the pink.  Oftentimes, you can achieve single-coat coverage with chalk type paint, but it depends on the colors that you’re using.

I did finish off with a coat of clear wax, rubbed on with a cloth.

The last touch was to change out the hardware–what a huge difference that made!  If found the crystal and gold pulls at Hobby Lobby (be sure to wait to buy them when they’re 50% off!) for about $3 each.

Juliette’s thrilled with her jewelry and accessory station; I love how it turned out, too!

For more information on the FinishMax Extra or Chalked Paint, I’ve linked to the product information pages.  Or, feel free to leave me a comment with your question.

Your giveaway is below–good luck!

This is such an amazing makeover and the accessories are so perfect. Love that gold tray and the drawer pulls are jewelry too.

I love the elegant look to this piece. Thanks for reviewing the chalked paint! I’ve wondered how that one weighs in. Another beautiful room!

I have always wanted a paint sprayer for furniture projects, but have been intimidated to use one. This one looks quite user friendly. I love that you don’t have to thin the paint. The problem we have found with my husband’s heavy duty outdoor type sprayer. Love how the dresser turned out. #2 just gave me some shelves she wants sprayed. She knows her momma is better with a can than she is 😉

What a beautiful chest! Would love to use chalk paint on an old oak sideboard to give it a new look! The sprayer would work wonders in doing that! Thanks for the opportunity!

We are planning on painting our kitchen cabinets and doors this fall. The sprayer would surely help speed up the process. I enjoy the blog.

It is time to re-stain the fence. Since i live on the corner of a circle, my back yard is huge so there is a lot of fence to stain. Love the cabinet.

I am planning to paint my kitchen cabinets as they are currently that lovely oak with green counter tops and terracotta walls…just a lovely combination that needs immediate help. The HomeRight Finish Max Extra would mean the world to me on this job!

Love Rustoleum Chalked and I was just about to break out the country gray paint to paint the legs of the coffee table I just upholstered. Thank you for the opportunity to win. A blessing as I’m about to paint our kitchen cabinets.

I’m dying to do my kitchen / bathroom cabinets, but it’s so time consuming. Was thinking about using a spraying gun, but was alittle scared if I messed up. Now I’m thinking go for it!!

Wow, what a transformation! A simply beautiful piece of furniture. I did not realize you could use chalk paint in a sprayer. That would make painting my desk much faster.
