I am so happy to say that our new home is all done and we’ve moved in! It is such a great feeling, and even though there were times when I questioned my sanity in moving twice, now that it’s over I can honestly say I am so glad we did it this way. I love our new house, since I have been living here I have the biggest smile on my face. My kids keep telling me how much they love it here too, and that really makes it worth it.
Unfortunately, the thousands of empty/move in photos I took have somehow disappeared from my phone AND the cloud? (What’s up with that? I am not sure what happened?!) Hopefully, they will reappear! Since I am still buried in boxes and paper blinds, rather than a full blown before tour like I’d hoped to share, I’ll have to show a few shots I do still have and talk a little about what our next steps here will be.
I have shared some images on Instagram, if you follow us there you know you’ll find me posting there most of the time, so some of you might have seen some of this. If you click over there you can see the stories saved under the “Amy’s New Home” highlight (on our profile page) where I have posted some house videos. I admit that after having six months to plan, suddenly moving in and having all our belongings dumped everywhere (such as happens when you move) is a bit overwhelming. Many of my plans and dreams that I thought would just fall into place realistically will take a bit more time then I initially was thinking (where is the magic wand I can wave to hang all these blinds?!?), but hopefully, I’ll have some semi-decorated rooms to share soon.
This is a shot of our kitchen, it’s not final (you can see the blue tape from the builder) but it gives you an idea of the layout. I shared previously that we made the decision to take the standard kitchen that the builder offered and then put our touch on it, rather than pay extra for upgrades they offered that we didn’t really want for the long term. So that means that while I think this is a pretty kitchen, it’s not my dream kitchen–YET!
All this is a little down the road, as we hope to begin making some kitchen updates next spring. We’ll be replacing the standard range (it works fine, it’s new, but it’s not really a dream to cook on), and adding a range hood for both aesthetics and function and so that the microwave can go elsewhere. We’ll also be changing out the granite counters for something less busy, probably a quartz, and at the same time changing the sink and extending the top of the island a bit for a little more workspace. We’ll add a backsplash too, probably white subway tile, because I figure you can’t go wrong with a classic.
So while it’s a nice clean, bright, white kitchen now, which that alone makes me feel very happy, I am hopeful my final vision will take the space to the next level. I actually have made some tweaks to my design plan since moving in, so I am glad that we did it this way and will have a chance to live in the space to see what we really need before investing in the changes.
The door behind the range wall hides a large walk-in pantry and a mudroom, right now that area is still kind of a mess but we’re excited to have so much space to store things–and they will all be out of sight of our main living area. To the right of the photo is our breakfast room, I am waiting on a new table and we’ll be adding some new cabinetry along that wall, which will happen once I get unpacked enough to focus on what type of additional storage we need.

I didn’t really “style” this photo but thought I’d share one semi-decorated space before I sign off and go back to unpacking boxes. This is my view outside of my office, and it’s just inside our front door. I’ll share more about the gorgeous art in another post soon, but I thought I’d mention that I got this pretty rug from Boutique Rugs and I feel like I have discovered a new gem of a resource for rugs. They are having a 40% off 4th of July sale I wanted to share them with you, because they have amazing deals right now. I have my eye on this pink rug for my kitchen, my fingers crossed it comes back in stock in the smaller runner size!
I’ll be back soon with much more, I am hoping to show you all my decorated office very soon. It really came together nicely, mostly with decor I already had, how lucky is that? Be sure to follow us on Instagram to see more!
Happy 4th of July to our American friends!

So excited for you friend. You are so smart to take the standard builder kitchen, live with it for awhile and THEN make changes. We have tweaked ours here and there, and now I am just ready to start over! Love your entryway.
