Father’s Day is coming up this weekend and after all these months at home and being stuck inside it is nice to have something fun to celebrate. We’re planning a nice dinner on our new deck to honor my husband and my Dad so today I just thought I’d share a few fun ideas for ways to honor the Dads in your life.
You can see our post from last year with last minute Father’s Day gift ideas here, I am sure Amazon can come to your rescue if you still need to order something ASAP! They have ideas HERE.
This is one of those holidays that usually I am scrambling at the last minute for but somehow this year I am feeling ready for it. Maybe it is just the state of the world right now but I feel fortunate to have a day to celebrate two of my very favorite people. I obviously think the world of my husband, he’s an amazing father and deserves to be honored and I am also fortunate enough to have a fabulous dad! If you missed it, my Dad is responsible for the most popular project here on the blog–these built-in shelves using IKEA Billy Built-Ins, but of course I owe him thanks for about a million other things too!
So in honor of two of my favorite guys I have a big dinner planned for Sunday. Now that our new deck is done, we’ll be able to gather outside together and enjoy a good meal. Steak is on the menu when my guys are concerned, this Flank Steak Recipe is not only easy but it’s so good.
I also highly recommend this Cilantro Sauce to top the steak, Christy gets credit for discovering this recipe, but I stole it from her and have made it countless times over the years) and it is just delicious. It gives steak that WOW factor!
If Burgers are more your style then we also have a great Burger recipe HERE, or if you aren’t a red meat person then you can make these delicious Pork Chops or these classic Chicken Fajitas.
We’ve shared this drink, The Bourbon Peach Lemonade in honor of Father’s Day plenty of times over the years, it is probably my husband’s favorite beverage. It calls for bourbon though you could modify it with vodka if you prefer. This one is always a hit when we serve it at parties.
We’re planning to have the usual summer fare on the side, like corn on the cob along with farmer’s market tomatoes. I am also thinking we will have to have some sort of chocolate dessert to honor the dads and top off the night.
Finally, if you just need to bring something or you just really want to make a homerun recipe–this Hot Sausage Dip is without fail, a crowd pleaser. I have never made this and not had rave reviews, so I highly recommend this one!
Of course all these are great summer recipes for anytime. However you celebrate I hope you have a great weekend!

Question about the Bourbon Peach lemonade-I looked a the recipe, when you say 5 parts/counts bourbon, how many ounces is that per part or count? Surely can’t be 5 shot glasses. That would be a little much. Thanks. Can’t wait to try.

Yes–that is confusing, sorry– he gets into bartender mode when trying to explain how he makes this. His technique involves covering the bourbon bottle with his finger while pouring and counting, so it’s not a straight on 5 second pour. Anyway, the typical rule is 1 oz of liquor (about a shot) per drink so you can just calculate the amount of drinks you want to make and how strong you want to make them. He’s usually making a larger batch so that is also why he pours into a large pitcher. I hope that helps, please let me know if it isn’t clear.
