Welcome everyone to my Summer Home Tour, for those of you coming over from Sincerely Marie Designs, we are glad you are here! I am Amy, and one half of the blogging duo here at 11 Magnolia Lane. Christy and I have been blogging together for almost a decade sharing our home decor and all sorts of other random things we find interesting, you can read more about us here, thank you for stopping by!
We are fast approaching our one-year anniversary in our new home; we moved in last summer and have been working on putting our personal style on it ever since. We built a craftsman style home with a production builder in a neighborhood we’d been hoping to move to and it has literally been a dream come true. We still have all sorts of home projects ahead but I feel like we’re finally getting to a point where I consider the house settled and fairly complete, at least it complete enough to have guests over! So that being said, come on in! 🙂
I have been tweaking our front hallway ever since we moved in, and the latest addition is this very affordable mirror. I prefer our home decor to be fairly neutral so I can change it frequently but keep it interesting by adding texture. The hallway is about to get another update, I’ll be sharing that next week so stay tuned or subscribe to our newsletter in the sidebar so you don’t miss a thing!
The entrance hallway is across from my home office so it’s nice to have a pretty view while I am in here working during the day, the seashell on the bottom of the table is a nice summer touch. You can see the chandelier in my office reflected in the mirror, see more of my office here.

I decided earlier this week to move our living furniture around, which seems like a good idea until you realize it’s a slippery slope of having to move all sorts of decor and wall art around too! In the end, I am so much happier with the new arrangement. Rather than have the back of our couch face the kitchen it now faces the stairs and hall, while it is less ideal for watching TV the room looks so much bigger. We don’t watch that much TV so I don’t think it’s going to be an issue, but time will tell.
I also just received new drapes for these windows, much more on those soon. They are gorgeous and part of a collaboration I’ll be sharing in the next few weeks. We are currently couch shopping and are now sure that we’ll be putting two couches facing each other. This new arrangement sealed that deal, everyone agrees the room looks so much larger.

Those of our you follow us regularly know we both have a serious love of blue and white. I actually photographed this room first with a different color scheme, I’ll show off that soon but in the end, I went back to these bright blue and white floral pillows. They just seem perfect for summer and add such a fun pop of color.
We have an open concept kitchen/breakfast/living room so to the right of the couch is our dining area. I recently moved the shelf that was next to the table and added some blue artwork I found to the wall by the cabinet. We hope to fill this wall with additional cabinets in the near future, so the hutch is just here temporarily but right now it is great for extra storage.
One of my favorite summer finds is this set of rattan napkin rings that are part of the Magnolia Home collection at Target. They only had one set left at my store, but they are a fun addition to any casual table.
This is our main family dining area and it is also where our fierce summer Uno tournament takes place most nights after dinner. We keep score on the large chalkboard just out of the picture on the right, and the winner gets a cash prize at the end of the summer. My middle son pretty much always wins, of course, he is already way ahead for this year!

Before we wrap up I made some summer changes in our bedroom too, so I’ll show you those quickly. I didn’t change our usual white bedding (my comforter set is less than $100 and is so soft and lightweight I don’t bother to switch it out during warmer weather, it is perfect year-round), but I added a few new pillows and some summery decor.
You might recognize the rattan mirror from the Drew Barrymore Home collection, I swapped it with my mirror that was in here just for the summer. I love the lightweight feel of it.
I also added this beautiful linen pillow, it looks like high-end but it’s less than $20. The pale blue design inspired the coastal colors in this room.
Summer is by far my very favorite time of year, so it’s nice to have a light and breezy feel throughout our home.
