After what I can only call a whirlwind week with traveling then heading right into back to school for all three of my kids, I am back to blogging today and am showing off another space in our new home–my home office.
We’re just about to hit the two-month mark living here and pretty much, I have multiple projects going all throughout the house as we still try to get settled in. This space has been the one constant, as it has pretty much been my hideaway from all the mess, boxes and the general summer chaos that ensues when all the kids are home. Though honestly, now that they are back in school I dearly miss the noise and mess! This small office is tucked just inside our entry hall, originally my thought was that it was a large enough space for my husband (who often works from home) and I to share. Needless to say, with the direction that the decor went he opted to find another workspace, one that is less feminine and girly 🙂
Outside of a few new additions like the chandelier and the cowhide rug, much of this furniture was used in my last home office. This time, I toned down the bright pink/black and white striped decor from that space and went with softer tones.
I reused two inexpensive IKEA Vittsjo shelving units (that I had sprayed with gold spray paint, such an easy update), and hung a round mirror on the wall over my mid-century console.
The console holds a ton of papers, files and supplies and all are within easy reach right behind the desk.
My desk originally came from HomeGoods, as did the gold and crystal lamp and most of the shelf decor and accessories and the fun pink pouf in the corner.
Originally, I ordered this beaded chandelier to hang in here, then I decided to move that into our breakfast room, and went on the hunt for something else that would compliment the blush and gold theme I had going. This (inexpensive) chandelier was perfect for the space, I love that it adds glitz without being too over the top. If you follow us on Instagram you have already seen it, I already posted how it is my very favorite part of the space.
I went with an upgraded patterned carpet in this room when we made our interior selections, but to add interest I layered this inexpensive cowhide rug. It is an interesting way to center the desk in the room. We have a large closet upstairs off our loft, which is on my list of projects to organize, so most of our craft supplies have been moved up there. However, most of our household papers have been moved in here (since our kitchen doesn’t have a dedicated desk area) so it’s been an even trade as far as storage goes. I am still tweaking all the organization in all these spaces, but for now, at least it is all hidden behind the doors.
The room sources are available below:
Stay tuned, I have a few more spaces and projects to show you over the next few weeks. My son’s room is getting a fun overhaul, I am hoping I’ll have that space to show off to you next week sometime.

Love your office. What white paint color did you use? Thanks!
Amy says
Hi Anne, unfortunately I don’t have the paint color. It is whatever the builder put on the walls throughout the house which is white with a gray tint. It’s a custom mix, so I don’t have any more information than that. I am sorry!
