It is hard to believe 2016 has come and gone…but suddenly it has! Today we’re looking back at all our projects and top posts from last year at 11 Magnolia Lane.
JANUARY
We kicked off last January with Operation: Organization {which is coming up again January 9th-13th!} like we do each year.
Christy shared her master closet makeover where she gave a small space big organizational style.
and I shared my Kate Spade inspired Office Makeover, this is still my favorite space in my entire house!
FEBRUARY
In February I wrote a post about how you can get the Fixer Upper look with affordable sources for the the farmhouse-style decor that Joanna Gaines uses in her house makeovers. That post quickly became quite popular, so we know you all like Fixer Upper as much as we do!
Christy hosted a successful and stylish fundraiser for her children’s school and shared all the details in this post HERE. Dancing the night away at the Valentine’s Bowtie Ball looked like so much fun!
MARCH
In March, Christy took a $10 Thrift Shop table and gave it a whole new look with a can of spray paint, which goes to once again prove the power of a new coat of paint.
In March I started our master bathroom makeover and we tackled removing our huge, oversized bathroom mirror that was glued on the wall, we shared our tips for safely doing this project HERE.
APRIL
When Spring finally began to arrive, Christy shared another post that quickly became a reader favorite about how to create your own natural cleaning sprays, including darling printable labels.
My favorite post from April, while it was a bit of a departure from our usual content, was all about the cutest middle school dance {with a travel theme} I’d ever seen.
MAY
By May, our master bathroom was complete and I shared all the “afters” here. {On a personal note, for those interested in that type of thing, I also shared an update on my ongoing battle with lyme disease in May, that post is HERE.}
Also, in May, Christy shared these cute end of school year treats her kids gave to their friends, including printable labels.
June
In June we were all about our daughters. First, Christy showed off the Italian Soda and Ice Cream Bar she set up for her daughter’s dance friends to celebrate a great performance, this is such an easy entertaining idea– especially for kids!
Then I revealed my daughter’s vintage-style bedroom makeover. We added twin beds to the room to make it sleepover friendly, which started us down the slippery slope of a partial room makeover but both she and I love the results.
JULY
In July, I took a look back at everything we’d done in the two years we have been in our home. Still having a full to-do list ahead of us, it is gratifying to look back and remind ourselves how far we’ve come. {sidenote: Our Whole House Home Decor Planner is helpful in planning your projects, if you don’t already have a copy, it is free to download!}
And in July, Christy shared the pretty Master Bathroom in her current rental home.
AUGUST
In August Christy and I got to spend a few days together heading, as we do each year, to the DIY Blogger Conference known as Haven. We had a great time seeing our blogger friends and catching up with each other in Atlanta for the conference.
We also ran our Operation: Organization Back To School series and I launched The Printable Student Planner to help organize kids that were heading back to school.
SEPTEMBER
In September we celebrated the coming cooler temperatures and Fall, Christy shared her front porch decorated and celebrated her birthday in downtown Southern Pines, NC 🙂
and around here in September we were knee-deep in 40th birthday parties and football season.
OCTOBER
In October, I shared my Fall Home Tour here.
And Christy shared some easy DIY spray paint projects HERE.
NOVEMBER
Before we jumped fully into the holiday decorating madness–I shared one more DIY project for the year in November, one of the most labor-intensive projects in this house to date–entitled “The Lazy Girls Guide to Staining Your Deck”. I have to say we are thrilled with the results and SO happy this one is checked off the “to-do” list!
Christy shared these simple Peppermint Sugar Scrubs that were perfect to make for holiday gifts. The printable labels are so cute!
DECEMBER
December is always our craziest and most exciting month. This year we combined our annual Holiday Open House with Evolution of Style’s 12 Days of Homes for one fabulous Holiday Home tour. We both shared our homes all dolled up for the holidays and walked you through 20 more blogger homes in all their holiday finery. It was inspiring!
See Amy’s Holiday Home Tour HERE.
See Christy’s daughter’s room decorated for the holidays HERE.
To wrap up the year we shared a few fun finds for New Year’s Eve {including some must-have sale fashion finds} HERE , some of these bargains are still available if you are in a shopping mood!
Finally we wrapped up the year by giving away a $250 credit to Minted. If you still need to send holiday greetings–because New Year’s Cards are the new Christmas cards, friends–be sure to enter to win.
******
Wow–looking back I am always so amazed by all that went on here over the course of just a year. This year promises to bring even more–Christy and I are heading out to New York with one of our favorite brands in a few weeks (HomeGoods!) and we both have all sorts of projects in the works we’ll be showing off one the next few months.
In the end, we appreciate all of you that stop by, read about all that we’re working on, leave us sweet comments and interact with us on social media. This is a crazy, strange way to share our lives but we’re grateful that we get to do it each day, and most importantly that you seem to care! 🙂
We wish you all the best for 2017!

Also–much more to come this month for January’s organizing-frenzy, but if you are feeling the need to make your life more focused and less stressful our Printable Calendar Pad is an easy way to start!
Simply plan your week, meals, activities, to-do’s and priorities and don’t forget to snap a picture with your phone so you always have your plan on hand–there will be no more forgetting your grocery list at the store! 🙂
