Hi everyone, I am very, very, very slowly getting back into the swing. I had lunch with some girlfriends on Friday and we were all discussing what a whirlwind this holiday felt like (we blamed the shorter period between Thanksgiving and Christmas) and how we all still felt a bit stunned in the aftermath! Anyone else feel that way?
I thought this tweet (above) that has been making the social media rounds pretty much summed it up!
Marching onward, we’re now heading straight into New Years Eve. This used to be one of my favorite holidays but the older I get the less interested I am in doing any serious celebrating. We usually go out to dinner as a family then my kids head off to their various social events, but this year in a moment of weakness I agreed to let my daughter host her girlfriends here for a sleepover. I actually think it will be cute, we aren’t planning too much outside of pizza, chocolate fondue and sparkling cider, but I guess I have the perfect excuse to stay home and be cozy.
For those of you who do go out, here are a few picks to inspire your celebration. I really can’t quite wrap my head about it being an entirely new decade and 2020!?!
Christy already covered making fondue, which is a really fun tradition. If you are just in need of something to bring to a casual event, I can’t recommend this sausage dip enough. I made it for our holiday party and of all the food we served it was gone the fastest. It always gets rave reviews and I never have any leftovers.
If you want a fun drink idea, one of our most popular drink recipes is the Salted Caramel Martini, these definitely will be the highlight of the party!
If I was going out, I’d definitely wear this “Cheers” shirt. I saw it in the store window the other day and thought it was so cute. I think you could wear it for other events too, though it’s been very popular so it’s only available in limited sizes but you might also be able to find it in your local store.
If you want the best of both worlds, a way to be dressy and still be comfortable, this popular tunic is on sale. You’ll have to upgrade shipping or order it and pick up in store if you want to wear it for NYE, but this is the softest sweater. You can dress it up and wear it off the shoulder or wear it more casually as a tunic top but either way this is something you can wear again and again. Plus, it’s oversized so you can even wear it with leggings and boots or jeans and heels for two entirely different looks.
This sparkle garland is from from Target, they always have cute party decorations. You can search the website, order online then pick up in the store so you can be sure they still have the item in stock.
Amazon has tons of New Years decorations if you are hosting, just be sure to check the shipping to make sure it will reach you in time. These sparkly (and unbreakable) flutes also would be fun to ring in the new year with.
Here’s to kicking off 2020 friends! Wherever you celebrate and however you celebrate we hope that this new year brings all of you all an abundance of love and happiness!
