Just in time for Halloween, Thanksgiving and the Holidays we’re back with a new favorite drink recipe.

If you follow along, you have previously read that my husband, Justin, is proud of his role as our resident drink “mixologist” :).

After the recent success his Whipped Apple Cider Martini has found {thank you Pinterest!}, today we’re presenting his latest concoction…A Salted Caramel Martini.

OUR LATEST VIDEOS

I claim this idea myself. Recently, we had stopped in the Liquor Store and I spied Salted Caramel Vodka, which started the wheels turning. I am completely 100% obsessed with anything of that flavor, {thanks to these totally delicious Salted Caramel Frosted Cupcakes} so I knew this flavor had to find its way into our drink collection.

After much mixing, another liquor store run and taste-testing we’re finally happy with the result. This is SWEET drink–be warned. It’s also a POTENT drink–like a classic martini it packs a “one-is-all-you-need” punch! However, it’s a tasty treat for this time of year. So, mix away!

Here is our general recipe, but please feel free to adjust to your taste.

Salted Caramel Vodka {we used Pinnacle}

Caramel Liquor {we used a “cream” version, all we could find, I would prefer it without}

Caramel Syrup {yep, the kind you pour on ice cream, this brand would work very well.}

Simple Syrup {you can purchase it here or at a liquor store, Poe’s is the brand we used}.

Again, here are the ratios so if you are making a large batch for a party or one drink you can adjust accordingly.

*DIRECTIONS*

You will also need a cocktail shaker, ice and a cold martini glass.

Get your pre-frozen glass ready, pour some kosher salt on a plate, wet the rim of your glass and dip in the salt–just like you would to make a Margarita.

Fill your shaker half-full with ice {Justin’s tip: use crushed ice if you have that available}

Mix 1 part Vodka, 1 part Caramel Liquor and 1 part Simple Syrup in your shaker.

Pour in caramel syrup to taste, I would start with a tablespoon but you can adjust.

Shake Very Well! {Justin’s tip: till your hand is too cold to stand it anymore!}

Using the strainer pour the drink into your cold glass.

Serve immediately!

For fun, I garnish mine with some sea-salted caramel chocolates, why not?

{Justin’s tip: If you like “creamy” drinks you can also cut this drink with cream or even milk,  which will lower the alcohol content too.}

We also think these would be great served in a small “shot” style glass as an dessert/after dinner drink.  We’re planning to give that a try at our holiday party this year.
