Last week I tagged along with my husband on his business trip to San Antonio, Texas.
I have always heard how great the San Antonio Riverwalk is and have to say, it did not disappoint. It was the perfect place to escape “real” life and relax and decompress.
I took a ridiculous number of pictures with my Iphone, because it seemed like such a different world while we were there, I wanted a way to remember it.
I just wanted to share, its a great place to escape to if you love to eat and drink and of course, people-watch 🙂 The Riverwalk is a fun mix of european and mexican architecture, food and style so it feels like you traveled to a different country, though its centrally located in America.
After two “mediocre” touristy meals we went to chowhound for a dinner recommendation our last night, and wound up a Boudro’s. It was fabulous, make sure you stop in to enjoy a Prickly Pear Margarita if you are ever in San Antonio.
And, don’t miss their Guacamole which they make right at your table. I tried to remember how our waiter whipped it up, but I didn’t have to as the recipe is also on their website. Its so good, my formerly avocado-averse husband is now a guacamole fan, cheers to that!
Boudro’s Famous Guacamole Recipe
Juice of 1/4 of an orange
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1 avocado seeded and scooped out of skin
2 Tbs roasted and charred Roma tomatoes diced
1 ea Serrano pepper roasted seeded and diced
1 Tbs medium dice red onions
1 tsp chopped cilantro
coarse ground salt to taste (sea salt is better)
Directions
Squeeze juices into bowl. Add avocado and coarsely chop. Add onions, roasted tomato, serrano and cilantro fold into avocado mixture. Add salt (more is better). Result should be crudely chopped not mashed. That’s it.
Visit the Boudro’s Website for more “Goodies” HERE.
And, yes we got a laugh out of my drink being the perfect match with my dress!
It was a great weekend, but its nice to be home and enjoying summer. After a long break, I am hard at work on some DIY projects so I will be back with those soon.

I have also traveled to San Antonio tagging along with my hubby….it is as you described…beautiful architecture surrounded by lush landscape. Have not been to Boudro’s though…thanks for the recommendation and the great recipe..Glad you had a wonderful time! Oh, and I hope you were able to get to that great outlet mall just outside the city!

I live in San Antonio! I love it here. We often do “staycations”. We get a hotel downtown and enjoy what our city has to offer. I can never get tired of the riverwalk. Your pcitures show the heart of San Antonio well. If you want to see the Riverwalk in a different way, visit during the holidays, it is decorated with thousands of LED lights and is absolutly gorgeous.
