I’m sharing a super-easy and fast project today; as you know I’m hard at work on my garage entry/pantry/mudroom project and that’s taking most of my DIY time right now.
But THIS project is further proof (as if we needed any) that you really can monogram anything!
I think I’ve mentioned that my daughter is crazy for ballet; she just returned from a two-week intensive at the University of Georgia and is already back at it in the studio. One of the things she really wanted after her time with professional dancers was a pair of warm up booties, so I bought her a pair for her birthday.
When you’re at the studio for hours at a time, you pop these on your feet to keep them warm in between classes. And–guess what–everyone has pretty much the exact same ones, so it’s hard to tell them apart. Fixed that!
I created a vines font interlocking monogram for her on heat transfer vinyl using {this} easy tutorial. If you’ve never used iron on vinyl before, the best one that I’ve found is linked in the sources at the end of the post. They can be temperamental (and that can ruin your project), but this one has never failed me.
If you’re a Silhouette owner and are interested in a tutorial post on iron-on vinyl, just let me know!
A few seconds with my iron and a pressing cloth, and the booties were ready to go. The pressing cloth is always used with iron on vinyl, but it’s especially important with this application since you don’t want to melt the nylon of the booties with the heat of the iron!
She loves how they turned out and I’m glad she’ll be able to tell hers apart from everyone else’s!

Heat Transfer Vinyl (I used pink but pale blue would be pretty, too)
PS If you don’t own a vinyl machine, I do have these monograms available in our Etsy shop {here}

I want to do this today! nutcracker is coming up and at least 6 girls have the same bloch booties as my daughter. I had picked up some adhesive vinyl to use since it is nylon, but would my heat transfer vinyl work okay on the nylon?

Hi, Marcie-
I used heat transfer vinyl on these. You just have to be careful to make sure you have the iron hot enough for the vinyl to adhere but not so hot that you melt the booties. I recommend you put a book or something else that’s hard into the bootie to give yourself a firm surface to press on, too. Good luck and happy Nutcracker season! My daughter has seven shows this week and another eight in December. Phew!
