Well, it is Spring Break here, though we’re searching for the “spring” in it as we spent a frigid weekend outside at a soccer tournament here in Virginia in rain, sleet and yes, SNOW. It called for hats, gloves an Uggs and I am still trying to get warm! Our boys came home champions so in the end, the proud smiles are always worth all those frozen hours on the sidelines. All the more reason to come home to a house that reminds us that Spring will come back soon!
I have been updating our home to reflect the coming warmer season over the last few weeks and thought I’d share some of the spring touches, it comes with the “blogging” territory after all, right? We feel we must welcome each season change with new home accents.
Since the color scheme of our breakfast room is spring-like year round, with the whitish/blue walls and the painted furniture, it is easy to refresh, I just added some fresh flowers and a new table runner from HomeGoods for a spring touch.
The ruffled linen runner keeps going back and forth between our Dining Room and this space, but we’re in our kitchen/breakfast space most of the time so it seems to have found a home. See more about the bird prints on the wall here.
Here it was {above} in the Dining Room, with one of our Easter Decor ideas.
This space below is a bit of a decorating challenge since anything tall on the console {which is the bottom of this piece here} blocks the view into the other room {and the TV} from the kitchen. I found this large crate at HomeGoods and keep it filled with cookbooks and dried flowers to have something on top of it. Our Gallery Wall is behind it, details HERE.
The lovebird plate is from Anthropologie {it is HERE} they have the whole alphabet though the birds are by far my favorite. I have always thought the entire collection of these plates displayed on a wall would just fabulous, if only I had the wall space!
My DIY kitchen shelves always get new decorations for the season, and again my bird and nest theme in decor is going strong. These were an easy DIY and they add such great display space to our kitchen.
The kitchen just got some fresh flowers and a boxwood wreath. I seem to buy tulips every time I go to the grocery store at this time of year, they are my favorites.
In the family room I updated all our throw pillows by mixing in some light blue with the gray that is there in the winter. This oversized basket {also from HomeGoods} keeps everything on the coffee table in one place.
This corner {you can see how we painted our fireplace here} is a little awkward as it’s the pass-through to our breakfast room/ sunroom. I packed up all the blankets that the vintage dairy crate holds during the winter and stored some extra throw pillows in it for the warmer months. After this weekend I am wondering if I moved the blankets too soon? We’re hoping for some warmth around here by Easter!
Speaking of, here is more Easter inspiration from our archives if your in need of some ideas {I am planning to make the Virginia Ham recipe, as it is truly divine} for this coming weekend.
