Easy Peppermint Sugar Scrub recipe--perfect for Christmas teacher gifts! | 11 Magnolia Lane

Hi, everyone!  Today we’re joining with a group of bloggers to share our favorite DIY teacher gift ideas, because it’s that time of year again.

I actually made homemade salsa for my kids’ school teachers, and I’ll share that recipe in a few days, but today I’m sharing my favorite Christmas gift idea for my daughter’s ballet teachers–Peppermint Sugar Scrub.  If you’ve ever seen a ballerina’s feet, then you know that they take a beating!

Peppermint is a natural refresher and energizer (and deodorizer–yes, pointe-shoe feet, I’m talking to YOU), plus it’s the perfect seasonal fragrance.

The recipe couldn’t be easier:

The coconut oil I use is right off the shelf in the baking aisle, and one batch fills these large jars that I buy at Hobby Lobby (on sale, they’re only $1.50 each).

The holly labels are below and ready to print out on Avery 22830 round labels.

I like to pair these with small silver spoons that I snag at yard sales and thrift shops throughout the year.

Don’t have a collection of tiny silver spoons on hand?  Then these small wooden scoops are just the right size.  A length of red and white baker’s twine finishes off the packaging and they’re ready to go!

Here are all of the products I used for this recipe:

Here’s a picture of my ballerina in her first week of Nutcracker performances (two more weeks to go!); we soaked her feet and used this scrub on them almost every night after rehearsal.

Her ballet teachers always give this recipe a thumbs up, too.

Love the idea of Peppermint. I could have used this scrub back in college as a dance major. Point Shoes are no joke as I’m sure your daughter will tell you 🙂 She looks beautiful! Pinning to my Christmas board.

The peppermint is such a fun scent to wake up to in the shower…perfect for a body scrub! I know so many teachers who would love this. Your ballerina is beautiful, too!

How many bathches do you get out of a jar of cocunut oil? I have 7 teachers to buy for and need something economical. I tend to just get gift card but love this idea if it will not cost me a fortune…..

      Hey Jen – –
If I was you, I would use the Ball half pint widemouth jars for this project. They’re about half the size of the jars I used, but it’s still a nice amount for a gift. You’ll get about 10 of them out of one container of coconut oil. By the way, the best price I’ve seen on coconut oil is actually on the shelves at the grocery store, instead of ordering online.
      Hope that helps! Christy

This is so cute. I can’t wait to try it. And that Vintage Spoon is the perfect addition!
