I hope everyone is getting to relax a bit during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Amy and I decided that we were just going to post once this week, so of course it needs to be a good one! If you saw my post about the Christmas party we attended a few weeks ago (see it here), this is the follow up to show off more of Jim and Sandra’s beautiful apartment.
They’ve lived in Europe longer than we have, and Sandra has made their home into a showplace full of beautiful antiques and vintage finds. During happier (ie non-lockdown) times, we go out and hit the flohmarkts and thrift stores together.
I have a ton of pictures so will just share them without a ton of chatter; I don’t know sources off the top of my head but if you really have a question let me know and I’ll ask her!
Check out the garland on this cabinet; Sandra makes it from inexpensive dollar store picks and decorations:
This is the “travel tree”–such a good idea!
This was the beginning of the party setup…but you have to visit that post to see what she did with their covered balcony!
I hope you enjoyed a closer look; Sandra is so talented, isn’t she?! Thanks so much for opening your home to us!

It would be so great to have Sandra do a video on how to make garlands and decorating table tops

I will ask her if she’d like to do that now that the dust has settled after the holidays. Great idea!

Christy I am loving following your journeys through Europe. It brings back so many wonderful memories for me. Our kids and their families were here for Christmas this year and many of our conversations were about all the fun we had there during our 8 years. Thank you for providing so many wonderful pics through your eyes that have opened mine to revisit some of our own picture albums again. So many memories. Now I do have one question for you, after looking at the beautiful pictures of Sandra’s apartment I keyed in on the way she displayed her china. What did she use that made it possible to have her teacup hanging over the salad plate.? It really made for a beautiful display.
Happy New Year to you and your family!

Hi, Betty–
I’m so glad I could bring back happy memories for you and your family! Sandra uses saucer and teacup stands like this one but of course she also arranges her china beautifully. Hope that helps!

Sandra’s Decorating is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Would it be possible to find out where she obtained the Christmas tree stands. I haven’t seen them here in the States.
Christy says
Hi, Mira–
My pleasure! Those are antique German Christmas tree stands. We find them at flohmarkts here, but you might be able to buy one on eBay (use “weihnachtsbaumständer antik” as your search term).
I hope that helps!
