I haven’t shared favorite finds in awhile, though Christy shared some great things recently in this post HERE. It is a bit of a strange time of year so I warn you that my picks today are a very random assortment of Amazon purchases and other things that caught my eye. In August I find it’s still too hot (at least here in Virginia) to get excited about fall clothes and aren’t we all getting a bit over summer?! I did my best to share some fun things in case you need a late summer pick me up.
Of course it is also back to school time. My younger kids started middle and high school this week, they had an abbreviated summer thanks to the strange year last year and I can promise you they did not appreciate that. I am always sad when summer ends and we have to get back into the routine of homework, early mornings and making lunches but I admit it is nice to be more productive during the day now that my house is almost quiet again. I say almost as my oldest is still waiting for his college apartment to be ready for move in, but I am not sad to have him around for another week or two! Anyway, I shared a few back to school favorites as well today, and while I didn’t have time to write up an entire post on what we considered dorm must-haves last year for those of you with kids heading off to college, I did include many of our college picks in this post HERE.
I will start with my current favorite t shirt (because all t-shirts are not the same!), I have two of these Caslon t shirts and I have been wearing them non-stop this summer. I was luckily able to pick up one during the Anniversary Sale when they were discounted but even now with free shipping the price isn’t terrible. They come in a ton of colors and hold up really well. I do need to use my steamer on them quickly, but like that they are easy to be dressed up or down especially if you add more jewelry.
On the off chance you don’t have a clothes steamer, here is the one I have. I use this almost every day and it is so nice to not have to drag out an iron. I use this to quickly steam out any wrinkles (I keep my t-shirts folded so I think that makes them worse) but it just takes a few seconds and the steamer heats up really fast.
I noticed these Nike Running shorts for less than $20 shipped and wanted to share them. I ordered these for my daughter ASAP, these are a popular item for girls of all ages.
How cute are these bow flip flops?! They are just $16 (and come in a bunch of colors) and even have a 10% off offer (at the time I am writing this at least). These are definitely a fun summer pick me up!
Straight leg, light washed, chewed hem jeans (that is a lot of detail!) are the new look for fall. I am coming around to it, and this pair caught my eye, I like the lines of this pair. They aren’t inexpensive but they are, at least, on sale.
My daughter wanted a “Doc Martens” style boot and we found this pair that look similar but cost much less. She loves them and even said she got some compliments on them, and right now you can get 20% off shoes if you are a Target Circle member.
Nordstrom has new summer items on sale, including several popular styles of Steve Madden sandals. These leather ones are just $41 shipped. I also noticed the linen joggers are on sale, I love these for hot days. You can see all the new summer markdowns here.
Moving on from fashion to home decor, I am seriously considering adding this quilted coverlet to our bed. It looks just like it came from Pottery Barn but is literally a fraction of the cost.
I shared these great planters in our summer deck post HERE but I keep seeing this style planter but they are always so expensive! You won’t believe the price on these (just $15 for 2), and they would look just as good indoors as out once summer ends.
Another affordable find for the home are these gold beaded frames, they come in two sizes and start at just $10. I have one that I am filling with an art print for our kitchen (I think), but think they would also look nice stacked on a wall in a set.
I just picked up a similar cart for my daughter’s room at IKEA last week and to be honest, I wish I had ordered this one (above) instead. The one I purchased came in a flat box and is still in about one hundred pieces waiting to be assembled. This one looks to be a little more durable, and the mint color is fun (though it comes in pink, black, white and gray too). We’re working on organizing her room a bit better now with school starting, but this would be great to have in a dorm room too.
Those are my finds for this week, I hope you have a great weekend! I am planning to photograph our kitchen this weekend and share that, fingers crossed with you all next week. It’s been so nice to have a kitchen we can cook in again!

Where did you see the white quilted coverlet at? When I click on that it is bringing me to the Target site for the boots.
Thanks
