It is that time of year again–Fall Home Tour time! I know, already?!? Summer has barely ended but in the decor blogging niche everyone’s houses are already decked out with cornstalks and pumpkins! Today we’re joining up with 25 bloggers to all share our fall homes.
This tour is extra special as this season we are honoring our dear friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life, who usually heads up these tours. She recently lost her sweet husband so we are continuing the Tour of Homes tradition to honor and uplift her this fall.
Welcome to those of you touring all the homes and hopping over from Duke Manor Farm. Laura has the loveliest property and her home is always styled perfectly. My favorite part about decorating for fall at our home is decking out our front porch. I still love the fact that we have one, it is always fun to put a fall spin on it at this time of year.
And yes, here’s Auggie, he makes sure he is included in photos any chance he gets. This is not posed, he sits in this chair just like a person would and likes to watch the world go by. True story, yesterday I couldn’t find him, when I realized he’d gotten out of the house I ran outside in panic but I found him right here, sitting in this same chair just hanging out.
Ok, back to decor! Finding pumpkins in early September isn’t always easy but after overpaying for the one large white one, I discovered a roadside stand with a great selection especially of the grayish/blue cinderella ones. The ‘Hey Pumpkin’ mat is from here and the wreath here. I splurged on a gorgeous roll of taupe velvet ribbon (ribbon is one of my weaknesses) and used it to upgrade the bow on the wreath.
Inside I added fall touches by mostly just switching out the accent color from the vibrant blue I used over the summer (see that tour here) to more muted accents in warm beiges and tobacco tones. Fall decor can be a orange and burgundy explosion, but I don’t love those colors so I tend toward using texture mixed with neutrals at this time of year.
I should mention there are a lot of photos in this post, I contribute seasonally to a local magazine so I took quite a few pictures of our fall decor this year. Since most of our home decor is very neutral (like our new white couches), it isn’t hard to update things throughout the year. I just change around a few decorative accents and use a new color scheme to suit the current season.
On the couches I added back in my antelope pillows and mixed in a few textured pillows (from HomeGoods). The dried grass floral arrangement is available here and I think brings in just the right amount of fall in these early season days.
I found these pretty neutral magnolia leaves at a local garden center and they also add a pretty touch of fall on the fireplace. I like that the soft colors keep everything feeling calm, peaceful and cozy at this time of year.

I admit I really did fall up in our breakfast room this year. The hutch just called out for some updating and it went on from there. I love to have these brown plates on display (available here, I use them mixed with my fine china for Thanksgiving each year) and I even updated the decor on our bar cart for a fun change.
I used more of the pretty velvet ribbon I found to hang this fall wreath on the hutch. I also found the two black and white floral prints at the same local shop where I purchased the ribbon. There was something that just seemed fall-like to me about these two prints, I used brown grosgrain ribbons and hung them from these fleur de lis hooks.

The set of amber goblets (I found them here on Amazon, they are currently sold out but similar here) inspired me to also create an outdoor tablescape since we are still eating most of our meals outside right now on our new deck.
There is nothing like a fall harvest-style dinner on a beautiful September evening, especially since entertaining outdoors is still the way of the world right now. We’re thankful to have this outdoor space even if it is mostly used by just our family these days!

While I love the crisp fall days and the coziness of the season, it also means winter is coming and I much prefer warmer weather and longer days to cold, ice and snow! I have learned to make the most of every season and so adding these fall touches in helps to set my mood and frame of mind at this time of year.
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you are enjoying all the homes on the tour. The full participant list is below, but next you will definitely want to hop on over to see Andrea from Life on Cedar Lane’s beautiful home.
