Today’s post is a little unique as it is about real estate, but I wanted to share with you all that my parent’s home (that has been featured here many times over the years) is going to be for sale.
I took a few pictures this week as we’ve been getting the house ready because I thought there might be someone out there who may be interested. I wanted to give any of our readers a preview before this home comes on the market. I know we have many military (or other related jobs) readers that could possibly be moving in the DC market in the near future.
I decided to post about this as, while I am sure that this area isn’t the only part of the country experiencing an absolutely CRAZY real estate market, the DC situation is really insane right now. Homes are getting multiple offers and selling in a day. The market is typically pretty strong here with the federal government and the new Amazon headquarters in Arlington has only added to the frenzy. I thought maybe someone looking for a home in this market would see this post, so I figured I would give any of you all first dibs!
The home was built in the 1990’s and my parents have lived here for almost 20 years. They have given the home plenty of love and attention, including completely redoing their master bathroom which we showed you a few years ago here. One rather special thing about their home is that it has the master bedroom suite on the first level that has french doors leading to a beautiful screen porch. Upstairs there are three more bedrooms with two full baths. It has a fully finished basement with an office, a media room, a full bath and a home gym (that we helped convert into my mom’s craft room many years ago!).
The kitchen has been redone with pale gray cabinets and new appliances including a glass door refrigerator, double ovens and stone countertops. The best part of their home may be all the beautiful light that pours in from all the windows and the vaulted ceilings.
The house sits on a beautiful lot with tree preserve area both behind them and across the street so the home feels quite private. The neighborhood is a great location literally minutes off I-66, just five minutes from shopping/movies/restaurants and a commuter parking lot (with buses to the Pentagon/DC/Metro) and only 15 minutes from the VRE train that goes into Washington DC. Their upbeat neighborhood has a pool, clubhouse and even has food trucks that set up just down the street on Friday evenings, it is an ideal location. In 30 minutes you can be in the city enjoying a museum or restaurants, or in 10 minutes you can visit a local winery.
I should also mention that they are zoned for excellent schools including a brand new high school. My parents have a deep love of gardening, their yard is well-maintained and beautifully landscaped and their outdoor living areas are fabulous, you can see more of their porch and deck in this post I did here.
As they have very recently made the decision the time had come to downsize, they are flexible with their timeframe.
While there is a big part of me that is sad to see them leave this home they have truly loved, one that has been filled with so many happy memories, I am looking forward to seeing what they decide to do next. They have graciously allowed me to share photos of their home on this blog many times over the years, so it only seemed fitting that I share this news with you all first.
I have no doubt their home will sell quite quickly, but please note that it won’t be live on the real estate market until Wednesday, October 14th.
For more photos and information about this home, please see the MLS listing HERE (link will be updated once this is live later today). Please contact their real estate agent, Tracy Lynn at 703-999-1572 or via email at Tracylynn@Amagnoliahometeam.com with any questions or to arrange a showing.
Have a wonderful Friday!

Lovely & gracious home and you’re right about the light. Gorgeous! In the master bath reno post two years ago you mentioned they “never plan to move” – are you sharing why the change of mind and their future plans? I hope they get a fabulous price on a quick, easy sale. And, of course, I wish them only the best in whatever life holds & God has in store for them going forward.

Hi Susan, it isn’t an easy decision for sure as they dearly love this home. Honestly, they decided they just want less space (and yard) to maintain at this stage of their lives. Xo, Amy

Hello Amy,.
Wow, what a lovely home. I am sure it will not be on the market for long. It’s very lovely and you can see they have done a wonderful job in keeping it up to date. Wishing them well.
