Summer is flying by isn’t it? I kind of hate that! Today I have some pretty pictures to show you of my parents’ back porch and deck styled for the summer. These are some of my favorite spaces, and pretty much always where our family spends time when we get together in nice weather.
Since my Mom loves to entertain outside on her pretty deck, earlier this year I found these pretty black and white melamine plates at HomeGoods and picked some up for her. Their iron patio set is black, with black floral cushions, so I thought these plates would be perfect for her outside dinners. I mixed them with some rattan chargers and gold flatware for this table.
I shopped the picnic section of HomeGoods HARD earlier this year, there is nothing like easy, outside entertaining in the summer. I especially love that these hobnail glasses are unbreakable! For my own house I added some blue and white melamine plates to my own collection (no surprise there!) but I loved these black and white plates so much I knew they needed to go to someone else special 🙂 I gave them to my mom, with the disclaimer I would want to take some photos since I knew they would look great out here.
This table setting is perfect for summer but will also transfer nicely into Fall. Black and white is always in style; you can simply mix in an accent color depending on the season for a completely different look.
My parents have the prettiest yard with a golf course behind their property, so they entertain out here frequently. Their gardens are spectacular too, so that makes the space that much enjoyable.
They also have a section of their deck screened as a porch, and that gets used regularly at this time of year. My Dad is known to watch baseball games out there on summer evenings and it’s a perfect reading or relaxing spot. My Mom has the porch decorated in blue and white (see where my taste comes from?), mixed with lots of white wicker and lush plants.
Her yard is full of beautiful flowers, which also come in handy for photographs. I tend to bring home whatever she can spare, her hydrangea bushes bloomed abundantly this year, our Instagram has been full of pictures of them this week if you follow us there.
I have been telling her for years I think her porch would look beautiful with sheer curtains like Christy did HERE, but since their lot is fairly private, I am sure she doesn’t think it is worth the trouble.
