Hello! I am following up on our last organizing post with a healthy living post, because it’s January and that’s about all that is going on at this time of year, at least it seems that way today. Unless you are a cold/winter sports/outdoors person which I most certainly am not! Today I just wanted to talk about some health related topics and share some favorite ideas, most of this type of content I cover on my 11MLwellness.com website but occasionally I like to share things I think are really great here too.

While I tend to be someone more focused on my health than on weight loss or dieting, I wanted to share that I am going to be doing a 90-day Keto diet program; I plan to share about it on the 11MLwellness site. I am not exactly sure how it will look yet, but if you are interested in following along or even joining me in this endeavor, be sure to sign up for my newsletter here and follow my new Instagram page. I have never formally done a keto diet, though my husband has and had great success with it when it was recommended by his doctor. I am jumping in thanks to this absolutely mind-blowing podcast I listened to this week, I highly recommend listening to it, about all the benefits especially for mental health from the Keto diet. While much of that conversation focused on mental health conditions, the doctor discussed how much more energy and mental clarity he had from the Keto diet so I am intrigued to see if I get the same result. In my nutrition experience I can also say that keto is definitely a respected way to lose weight and to keep it off, especially in mid-life, plus it also has health benefits. You can buy his book here if you aren’t a podcast person.
I haven’t been as active on the 11MLwellness site (or here either) as I just (yay!) completed my course in holistic nutrition. Because I can’t leave well enough alone, I have decided that I feel called to offer more than just health info and so I am also pursuing a certification in holistic counseling. I share all that to say I haven’t had as much time to be sharing things online with all the learning! Thanks to the few of you loyal followers who have stuck around, and of course, as we have shared, Christy is now working full-time in Hospice nursing so her plate is also full.
OK, back to health strategies. I wanted to be sure to share one of my new favorite health tools, something that was on my wish list for a long time. I started using a LUME Red Light therapy device this month (gifted) and while it’s still a bit early to report on an overall outcome, I am faithfully exposing myself to the infrared and red light as it reportedly helps combat aging, pain and seasonal depression. I can say that I have been getting extremely debilitating migraines recently, more so than ever before, and when I use the red light machine I notice a significant reduction in my pain level. I also am holding out hope that the claims they make about the anti-aging benefits will hold true and I’ll look much younger, we can hope right? I’ll report back 🙂
These machines have been very popular and go out of stock often, and they just shared that the price is also going up on February 5th. My link here will give you a discount of $250 off, making it only $349 until then if you have been waiting to purchase one for yourself. You can read more about all the health benefits of the LumeBox and Red Light therapy here.

If you are feeling inclined to improve your health and you missed my post about all the best advice from the Integrative doctor’s I have sought out treatment from, you can read it here. It’s full of great tips that have helped me over the years.
I just added this mid-line blender to my kitchen collection and wanted to share it because it’s so easy to use. I have a full-size Vitamix but it’s harder to clean day in and day out and this is perfect. I make a smoothie every day to help fill in nutrient gaps. I love that this one you mix and store in the same container, less to clean. It’s really easy to use too.
Have a great day!
