I don’t go crazy decorating for Valentine’s Day, some years I do more than others and this year I only did one very small part of our home–my new bar cart!
My parents gave me this bar cart for Christmas because I wanted something I could tuck in this corner of our kitchen to serve drinks on when we entertain. I guess the fun of having a bar cart is to add seasonal decor especially as a blogger! For the price of this cute cart, it was just what I needed in here until we add additional cabinets in the future.
I am not one to go crazy with Valentine’s decor. Last year I did a bit in our living room, but most of the pink/heart/sparkle decor migrated to my daughter’s room and never to return. This year I added a few little touches (most courtesy of the Target $ aisle) to create a little Valentine-themed spot right here in the corner of our kitchen.
Valentine’s is actually kind of a big deal around here because my husband and I met on Valentine’s Day. God isn’t subtle is he?!? 20+ years later it is sometimes hard to squeeze in a celebration but it does make the holiday even more meaningful to us.
However, any celebration is usually complicated by the fact that my husband’s family does an enormous reunion every President’s Day weekend so we are rarely in town. If we are home, it seems we are often scrambling to head out the next day but I still try to make it somewhat of an occasion. We usually have a nice dinner (or order in dinner) with the kids and find another time to go out just the two of us when we can squeeze it in.
Back to decor–I just added some candy, cute Valentine’s themed accessories, and my stock of sparkling rosé which is my current favorite wine on the cart. The candy bowls will probably be empty and refilled many times over before the actual holiday as soon as my kids discover them!
Over the years we’ve shared some fun Valentine’s ideas, here are my favorite ones.
Valentine’s Bath Salts (DIY Gift Idea)
Lilly Pulitzer Valentine Treat Bags
Sweetheart Martini (aka a Red Velvet Martini)
However you celebrate, I hope your day is full of chocolate and love –and I am fully in favor of providing chocolate for yourself!
Here are some of our favorite bar carts if you would like a little spot to decorate in your home….
