I’ve mentioned this quite often, but our family is very brand loyal to Dyson. Case and point is our DC07 upright vacuum cleaner that we’ve had since–wait for it– 2003!

Even though it’s as old as my teenage daughter, this vacuum still works perfectly, and trust me when I tell you that we’ve tried hard to kill it with four dogs, two cats, and three hamsters during the interim years! Every three to four years I have to order a new hose and that’s been it; I hardly ever even clean the filter (but please don’t tell the Dyson people I said that).

Two years ago, we added the Dyson cordless V6 Motorhead stick vacuum to the lineup; it’s perfect for getting pet hair up off our hardwood floors.

Even my hairstylist uses the Dyson professional hair dryer and loves it (coincidence? I think not).

So now that you know how we feel about the Dyson brand, you’ll understand why I jumped at the chance to try out the DP01 Pure Cool Link Desk Air Purifier and Fan. One of the reasons that we’re moving when my husband returns from his deployment this summer is that his allergies flare up in our current little old house (we have a very damp basement and probably lots of mold spores floating through the air in addition to a crazy amount of pet hair and dander).

Our new house has a dry basement but is still about 100 years old, so I figure the Pure Cool Link will save the day when it comes to filtering out 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, like pollen, bacteria (and mold), and pet dander.

Plus, only Dyson would invent a bladeless fan that is not only functional but beautiful!

Dyson has an eBay store where they sell both new and factory refurbished units. I know that you guys are well aware that I am a huge eBay shopper (see this post for more information about that ) and have been buying and selling there since 2001. While I absolutely love eBay for one-of-a-kind finds, I’ve also noticed over the past few years that there are tons of new items available, too–in fact, 81% of the items now sold on eBay are brand new.

My Dyson DP01 Pure Cool Link Desk Air Purifier and Fan arrived quickly and with free shipping (69% of items on eBay ship free). My unit was a factory refurbished one and came with a 6 month warranty (brand-new Dyson items purchased through their eBay store come with a 2 Year Dyson Official Guarantee as well as 30 day returns). Plus eBay always offers buyers their own money back guarantee.

The remote that originally came with the unit didn’t work, but they quickly shipped me a replacement and I was in business. That’s the nice part about buying directly from the manufacturer–you get the benefit of the price break on a refurbished unit, but they are right there to stand behind their product.

I love the sound that the fan makes at night because I prefer a little white noise while sleeping. The real test of the fan will be when my husband or another allergy sufferer comes to visit and I’ll be sure to update this post with details on what they noticed (or maybe I should say, didn’t notice).

All of my sources are linked below, including the Dyson Outlet on eBay. I’ll be using them again when I finally decide to replace our vacuum cleaner!
