We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! It went by in a blur, didn’t it? We had a nice holiday and are looking forward to more family fun while we’re all on vacation this week.
The day AFTER Christmas means a ton of things went on sale, so if you didn’t get exactly what you wanted this holiday or your thoughts are quickly turning to the next big event–which just happens to be New Year’s Eve–we have some ideas for you.
We don’t really do fancy New Year’s Eve anymore–these days we’re more likely to be found at home hosting a game night and enjoying a few yummy cocktails along with some great food. It never hurts to celebrate the new year in style so here are a few fashion ideas to help you ring in 2017.

For easy New Year’s outfit just pair a pretty top with jeans (or quality leggings) and some killer shoes or boots. Of course, some sparkly jewelry never hurts 🙂
Here are some of my favorite finds:
Lush Tunic–I have this in blue and it’s truly the perfect versatile top. For a night out, the long (and forgiving!) length makes it wearable with leggings, and you’ll be able to wear it again later for a more casual look with jeans. It will carry you into the spring {especially in the fun pink color!} and it comes in a variety of colors for less than $30.
This black velvet off the shoulder top is a nice festive style, it would look cute with jeans along with a sparkly necklace if your night calls for a little bit of fancy. It is called a ‘boat neck’ so if you aren’t quite comfortable with it off your shoulders, you’ll have options.
For a little less dressy option I really love the style of this bell sleeve sweater, it would be cute to wear out to dinner and it looks warm, which is always a nice bonus in my book.
If you are truly having a night “In”– these pajamas (now on sale in a ton of patterns for less than $30!) would be a fun way to ring in the New Year, I am not going to lie that I am sorely tempted to keep our evening completely simple this year which just may include pj’s for the dress code. Or maybe we should have a pajama party? That would be fun 🙂
Finally, for some basic jewelry that will jazz up your outfits without breaking your post-Christmas budget–these simple earrings are just $10 and these stylish hoops are only $6.
Now that we have covered fashion, here is an idea what to drink to cheers to 2017!
Our Salted Caramel Martini is one of our most popular drink recipes on our site. Our traditional recipe calls for Salted Caramel Vodka, but you can also make them with regular vodka and Torani Salted Caramel Syrup. This drink is truly yummy, I promise your guests will love it.
For a more traditional drink, these homemade Whiskey Sours are another great way to celebrate, you can find the recipe HERE.
For a fun entertaining idea, here is a flashback to the last time Christy and I celebrated New Years together. We had a super fun fondue night {you can see that post with fondue recipes HERE, but warning this one is really from deep in our blog archives}; this is a great way to celebrate with friends or family. Trader Joe’s has great pre-made cheese fondues if you want to keep it simple, and you can get a fondue pot inexpensively HERE. Then just follow up with a dessert course of chocolate fondue, I promise your guests will not be mad about it!
Whatever you decide to do to celebrate, we wish you the very best for 2017!
