Happy Friday everyone! My daughter just listed off all the reasons why today is a good day {for an 8 year old, aren’t most summer days are good though?} and I added that today was good because well, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts today for everyone, not just cardholders! I thought I would share what I actually purchased with you all today. Going into the sale, I wasn’t that enthused about Fall clothes {and cold weather, ugh} but I admit after seeing what was on sale, I got a little more excited. I also purchased some gifts, so I am proud of myself for thinking ahead!
What I actually spent the most money on was back to school clothes for my kids. They have some great deals and this way we have a head start on school clothes next month. I can always send back what doesn’t work out, and free shipping definitely beats driving to the mall with teenagers.
First, I’ll show you what I bought, then I’ll show you the things I picked up for my teenage boys and 8-year-old daughter. Christy’s daughter has been doing her own shopping too, so I’ll share her picks for teenage girls so hopefully we’ve covered just about everyone.

First things first, I grabbed these boots, right off the bat. I wished for gray boots all last winter and love the pattern on these. They are the perfect casual boot, though I really had a hard time deciding between the tan colors and the gray but of everything I bought, I am most excited about these!
I purchased this plaid top in blue. When Fall rolls around and everyone breaks out the plaid shirts I’m sure I’ll be happy I have it. The blue isn’t the traditional Fall neutrals, which means I can pair it with a fun vest or olive cargo pants, and it will be great especially during the transitional weather when it’s not hot but not yet sweater weather either. At $31 it was a great deal and it comes in other plaids too.
A note about what I didn’t buy, but wish that I did! I had to show some restraint after all 🙂 I wanted a nice new long cardigan sweater, but they were sold out of the ones I’d wanted in my size by the time I ordered. I also love, love this one above, I have seen it on other bloggers and it is darling! It is available in a ton of colors and sizes. I still may have to pull the trigger on this one :). Sadly, these jeans sold out in my size before I could grab them. They were my other “must have” 🙁 but it just wasn’t meant to be.
Moving on…I would always be up for new bag and if I was going to make an investment now would be the time. This Tory Burch bag has beautiful lines and I love everything about the gold detail. I also was eyeing this watch, it is a GREAT deal, but unfortunately my birthday and Christmas are not in sight so I couldn’t justify it 🙂 Finally, I already have these beautiful boots but if I didn’t, this would be the time to buy them. Such nice quality, worth the investment, you will wear them for years to come.
For my older {high school} son, I grabbed this sweater {and am contemplating getting another one for his dad), as he already wears men’s sizes, though I am thinking this will actually be a Christmas gift.
Finally, GIRL clothes! They have some really cute girl stuff in the sale. I had so much fun picking out some new things for my daughter. She does wear a uniform to school so again, I had to show some restraint, but picked out a few fun things for her to wear on the weekend. Otherwise, I’d have definitely done more damage!
Christy and Annabelle also are shopping, and Annabelle (age 14) sent me her choices from the sale for the benefit of those of you with teenage girls.
She said these shoes were the most important 🙂 and I see why! I love seeing her choices, how fun are these embroidered shoes? A great price for Sam Edelman too!
Another great back to school shoe deal, these cute suede riding boots Annabelle found (they come in all sizes, toddler, little girl and big girl and in brown), for less than $40 these are a great deal!
You can shop all the girls” clothes in the sale HERE. As moms of girls know, dressing room drama can happen, I’d much rather take advantage of the free shipping and return something that doesn’t meet with their approval from the comfort of home.
That’s all! I am walking away from sale shopping and am off to pick up paint for a project, grab a cousin to spend the night and then head to the pool with the kids. Hope you have a great weekend! I’d love to hear what you found at the sale!
