The decor in our front hall was feeling a little stale, but since we’ll be moving again in a few months, I didn’t want to make any big changes. I wanted to add some spring color and layer my decor a bit, so I shopped the house and also picked up a new blue and white lamp (source list at the bottom).
This is what the dresser looked like before:
You can read about why I love having a dresser to organize my entryway {here}.
The gold mirror changed the look of the entire space. I added a black and gold tray, a stack of my favorite decor books, and some fresh flowers. The lamp brought in lots of color with its cheerful blue and white pattern.
But, the lampshade felt just a little too bare. I found the perfect fix–a roll of 5/8″ gold Greek key ribbon, and glue-gunned it to the shade. Doesn’t it look so much better?
The key to this space is layering–from the tray on the dresser top, to the boxwood wreath with the glittery gold “B” at the top of the mirror. All of those layers let me bring in plenty of pattern, color, and visual interest.
It makes me happy every time I walk in the front door!
Speaking of happy, here’s some exciting news: we’ve joined the HomeGoods Happy by Design Pinterest team and will be pinning to their design board along with several other decorators. We’d love for you to follow along {here} to see what’s inspiring us!
