We have a super-amazing thrift store here in town, and every time I stop in I find something wonderful. Their prices are rock-bottom, too, which is always fun since most “chain” thrift stores have caught on and charge quite a bit these days–at least, in my opinion.
If you follow us on Facebook, then you probably saw these silver compotes when I brought them home in all their tarnished glory:
They were–wait for it–fifty cents apiece! Yes, they’re silver plate, but they’re lovely, and I love footed compotes.
Look what I found when I polished them up:
Yep, that would be a “B” and that’s our monogram. #meanttobe
I have two others already, so I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to rearrange a shelf to show of my new collection.
The sweet little silver trophy cup is from Lavender in downtown Southern Pines; it has a “B” on it, too, so was clearly meant for me!
I’m a little crazy because I actually like polishing silver; just like I enjoy painting because it’s such immediate gratification. I use Wright’s Silver Cream (affiliate link) and it’s my favorite, but if you have one that you swear by, then I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
On a somewhat related note, I found some gorgeous vintage-look silver trophies. The real ones are hard to find and VERY expensive, in my experience. Shop their line {here} if you’ve been on the lookout.
I’ve been hard at work with designing a black tie fundraising event for the kids’ school; it’s going to be next Friday and it’s been taking all of my time, so no newly decorated rooms to show you today. 🙂 I promise to take tons of pictures because I think it’s going to be a really super night!
Thanks for stopping by.
