After six weeks my office makeover is done and today is the “big REVEAL”–woo hoo! I am not going to write much–mostly just share the pictures of the “After” of the room. If you have been following along on my six week One Room Challenge endeavor to make our Master Bedroom Sitting Room into a office then you already know all the details, if you need to get caught up, all the weekly posts are at the end.
Just a reminder here is the space I started with~
And, six weeks later here is where I have finished up~
A few quick final thoughts. I certainly didn’t think long or hard about joining the One Room Challenge as a linking participant, I literally jumped in with both feet the day the challenge started. I have rooms “in-progress” all over our new house, this space was barely on my radar except that I’d just found this fabulous console and I couldn’t wait to use it in my office and somehow the whole joining-in-the-six-week makeover seemed like a great plan at the time.
On a more personal note joining in this challenge was craziness. If you follow along here regularly then you may know I am fighting chronic lyme disease. About 4 weeks before this ORC began I embarked on an intense antibiotic regime to help me overcome the impact of the disease. Those four weeks were not fun due to the effects of the treatment, and I was just starting to return to the land of living when I decided it would be just a dandy idea to join in this. I still can’t believe I even considered it, but even though I have had days where I was too tired to lift a can of spray paint {not kidding} focusing on this decorating challenge has been the distraction I needed to help me push through the treatment. I still have a long way to go, but in a crazy way I am so proud I have something to show for the last two+ months of my life in addition to what will hopefully be an upswing in my health. Not to mention the positive comments and the camaraderie among all the participants helped keep me going on days when I thought I would never have the energy to finish. So, here I am, and today as I sat down to “work” at the desk for the first time in my new space I have to admit I am pretty darn proud of myself, and I really do love my new workspace.
So, thank you for indulging me that, and now let’s get back to important part–the AFTER pictures!
{these drapes are NAVY, just FYI, I know they look black thanks to the photographs–you can buy them here and they are a great deal!}
I could write about how maybe I should have done this…and why I didn’t do this…and about how I just about KISSED the UPS man when he showed up with the curtains at 6PM last night {cause that wouldn’t have been at all weird…} but in the end, it’s all OK. I love the room, and I finished it in the 6 weeks and that is what matters.
Be sure to visit Calling it Home to see all the amazing talent in both the linking and the main participants in the One Room Challenge.

Amy, I love what you’ve done! What a large office space! I’ve been wanting to spray paint those IKEA shelves and you’ve given the inspiration to do it for the next around of ORC. It’s been a pleasure participating in this round with you and seeing your progress each week! BRAVO on all your DIY and design!

THE DRAPES!!!!!! They are the show-stopper of the whole room, and the perfect “The End” of the on-going Drape Drama…LOL! I totally felt for you on the drapery drama, because I have been looking for some drape JUST LIKE the ones in your initial mood board for the room. In fact, I kept checking back in to see if/when/where you found them, because I can’t find any anywhere. I may end up just doing a stencil and fabric paint, because I want exactly those drapes…. GREAT JOB on the ORC, and WOW, your room turned out just gorgeous!!!! (but your rooms always do!) I am sorry to hear of your health challenges, and wish you the best with getting and staying well. Thanks for the awesome inspiration, and keep on truckin with the gold paint – it looks fabulous!!!!!

I can’t believe you pulled this all together while not feeling well. I can’t get enough gold with black & white so I’m drooling over every single thing in your new office. My favorite piece may be your “Come Thou Fount” art – I used the same piece in my pantry reveal!

Hi Ana, that table came that way. I am sorry–I don’t have it anymore so I can’t tell you any further detail but it was originally a kitchen table. It had a black stained top (not paint). Hope that helps! Amy
