Happy weekend everyone! We’re back today with another fabulous home in our Spring Open House series. Today we have one of our Pretty Preppy Party co-hostesses, Heather from Southern State of Mind. Heather is truly talented at making her home look high-end on a budget. We know you’ll just love her style!

Hi friends! It is always such a pleasure joining the ladies at 11 Magnolia Lane and I appreciate the invitation to join y’all today. If we have never met, I’m Heather from Southern State of Mind. I’m an Atlanta girl with lots to say about home decor, simple DIY, and adventures with family. I love all things navy blue, the beach, the south and entertaining. By day, I am Queen Bee chasing my two little guys. By night, I am Busy Bee zhushing my house. I believe iced coffee and margaritas can cure anything. But most importantly I believe your home isn’t a to-do list, it’s a State of Mind.

Well, come on in!

The foyer recently got some loving including a navy wall, new “driftwood” dresser and stripes. Pretty much everything that makes my heart go pitter patter.

Oh, and some fun DIY art. Be sure to check out the how and why behind this phrase.
From the foyer we step into the family room, but first we step through this black painted trim. This recent project was done using leftover paint and took less than an hour. I love the way it frames out the space.

Now we are in the family room. This is where we relax. This is where we play. This is where we entertain.

Let’s take a walk down the hall to the Master Bedroom. I recently participated in the One Room Challenge to whip this room into shape in just six short weeks.

This room was a labor of love with lots of DIY’s and repurposing of things I had on hand. It came together for about $350. It was my first time joining the One Room Challenge fun and it was awesome to get a room done in six weeks. (And by awesome I mean painful.)

But in the end it was worth it to enjoy this coral and navy grown up space and I’m so glad I decided to tackle it.

The master isn’t the only bedroom that recently got some loving. The Preppy Eclectic Big Boy Room room was a year in the making but like all of the rooms in my house, it came together with DIY’s on the cheap.

And here is a collage of some of my favorite little spots. A lot of love went into making this room, and honestly, the little guy LOVES it. He really gets a kick out of these little details. And you know what they say “Happy Boy, Happy Boy-Mom!”

Well since it’s such a nice day, let’s move on out to the back porch.

Since we live in a 1950’s ranch home, I am a big advocate of using our space to the fullest. We no longer have a formal dining roomWe use our finished basement for just about everything. I converted a closet to my craft cloffice (closet-office). We created a playroom from a sunroom

And we love using our back porch

While we have already made our summer adventure bucket list, with two little guys we also spend many nights at home. This spot is a great way to feel like we are “out” without having to leave the house. I like to treat it as an extension of our home.

Thanks again for letting me join you today. I hope you enjoyed the tour.

Happy Summer! Make it fun!

So cute and stylish, right? I just love her home! Pop over and see more from Heather at Southern State of Mind–you’ll be glad you did!
