Hi everyone, I hope you are having a nice weekend. It has been gorgeous here in Virginia this weekend, dare we hope that the world’s longest winter is finally coming to an end? I snapped this picture on my walk earlier this week. While living in a temporary rental home has some challenges, I knew once the weather turned that I’d love walking in our beautiful neighborhood. It does not disappoint, the cherry blossoms have been beautiful the last few weeks.
Speaking of spring, I read this quote earlier this week. It is such a perfect perspective, especially since we’ve been in a long literal winter here in Virginia. I have written before about how much I am enjoying the Savor devotional book. I loved the reminder that God brings spring, especially after long, dark winters. May this be encouraging to any of you who are still feeling very winter-y in your lives 🙂
The sudden weather turn made me feel like I needed to do some spring shopping, maybe because most of my warm weather clothes are somewhere in a box! I had a few hours to kill waiting for my son’s lacrosse game to start yesterday (my husband is the coach, so we get there very early) so I used my time wisely and filled up my online shopping carts. J Crew Factory is having a sale this weekend, I ordered one of these t-shirts, this ruffle sleeve top and a polo shirt on sale for my husband. I didn’t get this striped peplum top but I was very tempted, I just already have something similar. It is just $18, isn’t it cute?
I also added another one of these tie t-shirts to my collection, I wore my gray one into the ground last summer so I knew another one would be a smart choice, this time I ordered black. You can’t go wrong with a black top, white jeans and a gold necklace, that will pretty much take you anywhere, right? Nordstrom has other new markdowns HERE, including the navy and white striped Miller sandals, pretty much the cutest shoes ever!
I mentioned in my bedroom post that I’d been upgrading my bedding and had just gotten new sheets. I wanted to be sure circle back and report that these microfiber sheets are seriously as good as the hype. I can’t believe they are less than $25 for a set. We have been sleeping on them for a few weeks now and they feel great, even when it’s warm out.
There have been some big social media changes over the last few weeks. The good news is that Pinterest is now allowing you to opt to go back to the ‘original’ feed. For those of you that remember when Pinterest was full of pins from your friends and favorite bloggers, now you have that option to see those in your feed again. For the last few years now you saw what Pinterest wanted you to see. There is still quite a bit of sponsored content but I suppose it’s free so we have to live with that. The bad news is that on Instagram, thanks to the latest Facebook changes, LIKETOKNOW.it can no longer send out an email with direct links to products in posts. This was a great resource, since when you saw something you liked all the details came in an email. Instead, now you have to screenshot the photo (you also have to have the LIKETOKNOW.it app, you can get it from the App store) and then the photo shows in the app with sources. The great part is when you open the App you have all your fun finds with shopping resources are in one place, it is just a different way of doing things. As my Dad always says, “The one thing certain is change!” right?
One final thing to share…since we are living out of my kids’ school district this spring and I spend a great deal of time driving around, I try to listen to podcasts to break up some of the monotony. This week I listened to “How I Built That” from NPR with the founder of Stitch Fix, Katrina Lake. I found it so interesting, I couldn’t believe that Stitch Fix is now a 2 billion company! I have received so many fixes I have lost count, it was a godsend for me when I was working full time and didn’t have time to shop, and while I don’t need as many clothes now I still try to get at least one “fix” a season. Even if you don’t want the clothes, I still thought it was a really interesting story how she built this company, she is one brilliant girl.
Have a great Sunday everyone!
