This is always the time of year when it’s a little hard to get excited about fashion, cozy sweaters are feeling tired and it’s not quite warm enough in most of the U.S. to break out the spring clothes. It is what is known as a transitional time of year so I thought I’d share some ideas to bridge the gap during this wacky time of year. In March here in Virginia one day we can have snow, the next day warmth, and the next day crazy winds…you just never know!
It’s also kind of a dreary time, much as I’m ready to get back outside, plant flowers and open the windows it just isn’t here yet. Here are some fun pick me ups to get you through if you are still feeling the residual impact of winter depression (like I am!).
The first thing well worth a mention is that Tory Burch launched the Private Sale which is up to 70% off. If you are a fan of this brand this is the time to invest in some pieces that are deeply discounted. I admit I strongly considered a new bag, in particularly this one above or this hobo style I have been coveting for awhile and also springing for an investment pair of boots, either these booties or these classic riding boots below.
In the end, I went with something fun for summer and bought the Miller sandals in the color make-up. A dressier pair of sandals has been on my list for awhile. I also plan to grab these sunglasses (the TB glasses hold up so well if you keep them in the hard case they come with) and be sure to pick up a pair of flip flops while they are discounted, they are the most comfortable ever!
I find myself gravitating toward lighter colors at this time of year, this inexpensive ivory/beige Amazon find has been one of my best buys. I love it with light jeans or even white as it gets warmer. This lightweight sweater is only $20 and it has held up great.
Belt | Boots | Purse | White Jeans | Sweater | Earrings
I keep coming back to this pretty light green duster from Loft. Right now it is 40% off and this longer design is flattering and stylish. A lightweight sweater is the perfect layer for this time of year, they look great over a camisole or just a casual t shirt.
This 9 West shoe is marked down to $31 shipped and is a perfect wear to work style with a not too high heel. These are such a good deal and they come in two colors. I actually ordered these for my daughter to wear to her final cotillion dance (the “Black and White Ball”)–her first real heels, but you can’t beat the price.
If you are lucky enough to be heading somewhere warm for Spring Break this is a great go-to maxi dress. This style is always popular because it is comfortable and can go anywhere from the pool to out to dinner. I’d just throw on a denim jacket for an easy casual look.
Moving on from fashion for those of you who prefer to talk decor, I picked up two of these Kyla pillow covers this week on sale. I found the navy in store but all the colors are pretty, you saw it in my last post about our foyer.
I can’t help it but at this time of year I get really excited about getting outside and growing things! We have major work to do on our yard and landscaping, with building a new home comes pretty much zero as far as established plants or even grass so it is on ongoing effort and will be our major project this spring. I recently treated myself to these two books, basically I bought the newest one after seeing it on Instagram and loved it so much I was inspired to plant more flowers I could cut and display this year so I ordered the earlier book (on the right). I have loved pouring through both of these and have been inspired to plant flowers beyond just hydrangeas and peonies. Not that there is anything wrong with those 🙂
Finally, I got several questions about the large clamshell I have displaying the chinoiserie blue and white balls in my foyer from yesterday’s post. I ordered mine on Amazon several years ago so the link was no longer working but this one above is a very close dupe. There are several other styles but the shipping makes them about the same price. The decorating options with this style bowl is endless, the blue and white balls are here too and are another great find we use over and over in our homes.
