Deck sprayer as after-beach shower!
I posted a few weeks ago on this great idea for after-beach sand cleanup–using a tank sprayer as a portable “shower.”  You can read the original post here.  Quite a few of you expressed interest in a tutorial for the vinyl decal that I made to designate the sprayer as “H2O only,” so I’m back today with the how-to’s.

If you’re a Silhouette user, we are affiliates, and I will also share this month’s bundle deal with you at the end of the post, along with links to a few other awesome projects I’ve made with my Silhouette.  If you’d prefer to buy the vinyl, click {here} to visit our Etsy shop.

This decal was created to fit the HomeRight DeckPro 3 gallon tank sprayer, but would probably work perfectly on any other brand and size of tank sprayer, as well.

To begin, open your Silhouette Studio or Silhouette Designer Edition software and download “Nautical objects,” design #47440:

Silhouette nautical objects
I’m going to assume that you have some familiarity with the software and the Cameo, but please leave me a comment if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to help!

Create a new design and import the Nautical Objects file from your library.

Ungroup the three objects and delete the captain’s wheel.

H2O Tutorial--step 1

Move the anchor to a second file (or just off to the gray space where it won’t cut), and size the waves to about 8″ wide.

Then, set the cut settings for vinyl and use the cutting mat (my personal preference).

H2O Tutorial-Step 2

I used Silhouette 12″ vinyl in Turquoise and cut the waves out.

Then, I created a separate graphic using the anchor and the words “H2O Only,” in the Pharmacy font.  In order the get the “H2O” in the first line to sit up close to the anchor and the “Only” text in the second line, I had to create two separate text boxes and center them.  Then I used the group objects button to put them into a single group and sized them to approximately 3.6″ x 5.6″.

H2O Tutorial-Step 3

I cut the anchor and text on Silhouette 12″ vinyl in Navy.

While you could certainly “sandwich” the two layers of vinyl and apply them together, I applied the turquoise waves first, and then the navy text separately.  So cute and functional!
