We have been working to upgrade the carpet in our home, in particularly in my daughter’s room. A few unfortunate paint spills and a rescue puppy have deemed new carpet essential. I am not sure yet if we’ll go with hardwoods in the space or carpet, but I put together a design board to show you what direction her new decor is heading.
Of course, hold this loosely as 12 year old girls are mercurial in their decorating styles! However for the last few months she has been wanting a “boho vibe” in her bedroom. She selected neutral colors, gold accents and this fun palm wallpaper grounded by the beachy looking wide plank hardwood she loved.
Actually seeing the wood sample helped me determine the design direction for the room. I ordered several samples of similar style flooring but this one clearly had the undertones we wanted along with the beachy look my daughter is hoping for, it was so helpful to see it in person. I also ordered some carpet samples in case we go that direction. The clear favorite of the three carpet samples I selected was this fun pattern below, it would look elegant in a bedroom.
Below is the overall design plan for her new room, it has evolved over the last year as we’ve discussed what she wants to do in her space. I am hopeful we can arrive on something that will withstand the changing tastes of a pre-teen but that may be optimistic. Overall, I like what she selected and think it will be a great space for her.
