It’s been just over two weeks since the movers delivered our furniture and a million boxes (OK, maybe about a hundred), and I feel like we’ve made grade progress. Obviously, there’s still a lot more to do, but today I feel good enough about our entryway, dining room, and living room, that I’m going to share them with you.
For those of you wondering why I chose to use video format again, this was actually faster than shooting, editing, and uploading photos. We are still without internet, believe it or not! It’s been two weeks since we ordered it and we thought it would be a fast process since we already have a modem and router in place and we just used the same company as the previous tenant.
Leider (“unfortunately” in German), that is not the case. They’ve told us it will be two more weeks! I’m very thankful at this point that we have unlimited data on our cell phones. Also, since cell service isn’t as fast or reliable in Germany as we’re used to in the States, our upstairs neighbors are letting our daughter use their WiFi for essential school assignments. I’m so thankful for them and not sure how she’d manage otherwise!
All that being said, a quick video requires less data than a bunch of photos. I promise that I will post pictures as soon as we have internet, but in the meantime, thanks for bearing with me.
So here are the first few rooms with furniture in them; I hope you enjoy the partial tour.
I am still behind on comments and I apologize for that. If I owe you an email, I haven’t forgotten, but I move a lot more slowly when I’m working on my phone instead of my laptop.
Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

I don’t see the video. Where do I go to see it?
Christy says
Hey, Marty–I think you just need to give it a minute to load. I’ve tried on my phone and laptop and it works fine from both, but it does take a minute since the file is so large. Most of the other comments indicate that others are seeing it ok, so please let me know!Take care,Christy

I didn’t see it either. Technical difficulties from Germany. I have the same problem in Massachusetts-just far enough out of town that an ISP is not available so have to use my phone.

Wow! From what I saw you have a very beautiful and spacious apartment. You have done such a amazing job!

Thanks so much, Lynn. Yes, it is very roomy, especially by European standards. We consider ourselves quite fortunate to have found it!

You’ve accomplished a lot! I know it must feel better to have your things around you now. Love the view! Don’t worry about trying to respond ~ just do what you can. My laptop is out of service so I’m depending on my phone too.

And it is SO hard to type on those keyboards, isn’t it? I managed to find some WiFi on base so I’m getting caught up. I’m glad you enjoyed the mini tour!

Ah geez! I’m sorry I forgot to warn you how frustrating getting internet mis over there. We waited a month! One of my friends had to wait 6 weeks!! Your apartment is looking very nice. You are lucky to have such a big balcony. And the view is gorgeous!
Christy says
I had heard similar stories but couldn’t believe it would take so many weeks for them just to flip a switch. Gah!! It’ll be a month IF they turn it on next Wednesday–fingers crossed!

For the video! That was so much fun!! I cannot believe how much you can accomplish in two weeks… Especially in a country that is not your own with norms you are used to. I hope your daughter is adjusting well and that porch is the biggest bonus ever!
Christy says
Aw, thank you so much! I think we were all so ready to be out of the hotel and into our own place that we moved with lightning speed. There is still plenty to figure out, but we’re getting there. Slowly but surely!
Take care,
Christy

Greetings Christy~ Thank you for the video – if this makes life easier for you, then please continue doing so! Everything is looking great! Please do not put unnecessary stress on yourself in getting your home together for us to see. Of course, we’re excited and curious, yet there’s such an adjustment happening for all of you so please everything in time! Remember the saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day……….. =) Thank you for what has been shown thusfar as it looks awesome!

Hi, Julie–That is a good reminder for me as you know I want it all done and perfect–NOW! The videos are easy–and fun–since I talk on them just like I’m talking to a friend. Which makes since so many of you have become friends over the years. 🙂
Take care–Christy
