I have a really fun room to show you today. The pictures you are seeing were taken in our current rental home (as our new home is still under construction) but this will all be part of the future loft area in our new house. I am excited to have a small bit of the decor for our new home already in place even before we’ve moved in.

I am not sure that I realized how much a navy blue velvet sofa would completely make a room, but it is a showstopper. I believe separate space makes for peace among siblings, especially when they all have friends are over, not to mention the significant age gap between our oldest (16) and youngest (9).

I already am envisioning how we can use this sofa in other spaces in our new home (like my office!) so it’s perfectly versatile should we decide to use the loft space differently. It even comes in a sectional version which would be great in a living room. The Sven sofa also comes in leather and other fabric options if velvet isn’t your thing.
I had fun styling this space once the furniture arrived in the sitting room off our master bedroom in our current home. This room had been filled with boxes so it definitely is looking much better now. I hung a simple gold mirror on the wall, added a small bench to hold drinks and accessories in front of the sofa and a faux fiddle leaf tree for some greenery in the corner, now it’s a great space to relax at the end of the day.
I ordered the free-standing brass lamp from Article to give some extra light since the loft’s layout means the sofa will be freestanding in the middle of the room. The brass on the lamp coordinates perfectly with the other accents in the room, but it does come in several other finishes too.
To soften the space, I also used the Lanna Ivory Sheepskin throw. This throw is so incredibly soft, it’s genuine sheepskin which is much richer than the readily available faux ones. It’s perfect to snuggle up against on the sofa, and I really like how the ivory breaks up all the dark blue.
For this room, I went with a much more modern, colorful style than in other spaces in our home. The dark blue has an elegant feel which will blend with our other spaces perfectly, but it is still fun and modern enough for soon-to-be-teen girls. The space came together perfectly, I couldn’t be happier with how everything looks.

This actually is just the builder color in this room, it’s an off white but I don’t have a name for it. I am so sorry! –Amy
