We’re currently wrapping up a week at our family camp in Maine. I have been coming here all my life and I have never seen such beautiful weather as we’ve had this week. We have had the best vacation–sun, no rain and perfect swimming, boating and sailing conditions every day, not to mention we’ve had our whole family together for a week. My children and their cousins have had a ball, going back to reality for everyone is going to be very tough, I have to admit.
While I have been traveling I was thinking about some of my favorite things for summer, especially the things that I have been glad to have on this trip so I thought I’d share. I already told you about my love for my Swell water bottle. I am kicking myself that I left home without mine on this trip but my Mom and sister-in-law have their bottles here and they are perfect to stay hydrated, not to mention our two labradors can’t spill their drinks when we are all crowding on the dock! Of course the guys are partial to their Yeti Ramblers but to each their own 🙂

Last year, prior to our family vacation in the Seaside area, I purchased a Cabana Life rash guard knowing that I’d be in some pretty powerful sun down there. It has been great to have it with me this year {I have this one}, this style is especially cool because it is ruched on the sides so it can be pulled down to mid-thigh and worn as a ‘cover-up’. This year it has served more of the purpose of keeping me warm in the Maine breeze after a dip in the {still slightly} chilly lake. The fabric is 50+ UV protection, which is just perfect for a girl like me with very pale skin. Be sure to check out their sale section and the rash guards and protective bathing suits for kids; my daughter has my pale skin so these help keep her safe in the sun as well as being super cute. Moving on to hair…because despite embracing the whole #lakehairdontcare concept this week I wanted to share with you my very favorite hair product. I saw this Unite U oil recommended on a blog {somewhere, can’t remember where} and added it to my Amazon shopping cart last year. When this summer came around I finally ordered it and it is fantastic–it truly keeps my naturally very curly and humidity-sensitive hair sleek, almost as if I’d had a straightening treatment. Nice as having sleek hair all summer long would be, I’m not inclined to subject myself to all those chemicals and this is a much more affordable solution.
I’ll wrap up with my favorite picture of the trip (my sister-in-law is such a good photographer!) of my son on the Fourth of July. We had a simple celebration here in the middle of really, nowhere, and it was perfect–sparklers, s’mores and the lake! Good times and memories for sure 🙂

Sorry for the delay in response Mara–I was away 🙂 Thank you for the compliment! Did you try the tanner? Let me know if you like it! I just saw it was ranked the ‘safest’ so that is great news too. Take care, Amy
