Each year we enjoy putting our heads together to come up with the very best things we’ve fallen for over the past twelve months. Though some of these may be so good they have made our list before and are appearing here again. Both of us are sharing our favorite things in this post, so read down to see my favorites then Christy’s best picks too!
I knew this would be my #1 item this year. I admit that I shared it with Christy when she is visiting and now she is hooked now too, in fact it was also on her list so we’re mentioning first. It’s the Olive + June Manicure system. While it’s a bit of an upfront cost, I have no reason to return to the nail salon for manicures now so it actually saves me money. I get almost a full week of wear each time I do my nails. I really don’t even do all the steps, I find the buffing tools and the polish are enough, especially with the glossy top coat to finish it off. My nails look great and they have a ton of colors, with plenty of seasonal ones too. I may have shared this before but I also swear by this cuticle cream and keep it in my purse at all times for on the go nail spiff ups. (The three pack would make an excellent Favorite Things gift!)
I purchased this electric kettle ahead of our kitchen renovation knowing I would want to be able to heat up water for oatmeal or hot tea, both of which I make often, and I am impressed. It boils water super fast, and it’s actually much larger than I expected so it makes a ton. It sits on a heating element so it keeps the water warm indefinitely too. Of course I also really love the chic white and gold style and definitely plan to add more from this line (see it all here) to our appliance collection. I am hoping to get the toaster next!
I purchased this ultra-soft robe during the Anniversary Sale and I am so glad I did! It is just like the Barefoot Dreams sweaters we’ve shared as favorites for years (see our pick here) but it is longer. Unlike most robes that feel bulky and sometimes frumpy, this feels like you are wearing a long but soft, cozy sweater. It’s warm without the heavy, bulk robes typically have, if that makes sense? I just love it, and I think it would make a lovely gift too.
Another cozy find, this Sherpa pullover very quickly became my favorite especially on cold days. It’s not expensive, I ordered it from Amazon last winter and it is holding up well even with frequent wear. I like that it is warmer than the average sweatshirt but still light enough to wear inside. It’s cut long so it’s legging friendly too. They come in a bunch of colors but personally I loved the pink and white!
If you like to cook (or even if you wished you like to cook!) and you buy one cookbook this year, I highly recommend this one. Several friends have seen it at my house, paged through it, then gone on order their own copy. While the recipes aren’t the simplest, they are consistently good. I feel like her recipes have elevated my cooking, and I always find great ideas for entertaining. All of her cookbooks are worth owning but honestly, but this one is my favorite as it makes an additional effort to include clean and healthy ingredients.
We’ve shared our love for the luxury of using Tyler Candle Company Detergent on sheets and towels over the years, in fact it’s probably our #1 Favorite Thing of all times. This year I wanted to share the Diva AutoGlam, the same great scent but it is for your car. As a mom with a car that hauls sweaty teenage boys, this is a lifesaver! This set of three is just $10 so they go a long way! I tuck them in the console of my car (I find they can be a little strong at first so I open it part way to begin) and they last for months.
After seeing several influencers sing the praises of this Shark Pet Hand Vacuum I decided to splurge on it to see if it is as good as they claimed, and yes it is. I can’t tell you how many times a day I reach for this! From cleaning crumbs out of drawers to the pet hair off my wood steps (so much easier than dragging out the big vacuum) to cleaning out my car (I swear this works as well as the gas station vacuums do), it is just so quick and easy to use. It sits in a charger so it is always ready to go and this is the best price I have seen on it, I definitely paid more when I purchased mine.
My friends in my weekly discipleship group recommended this devotional and I wanted to pass it on to you all. A few years ago I tried to stop consuming so much ‘devotional’ style thought and instead just focus on reading the Bible, which is HIS word after all. However, I have been enjoying having a few minutes in the morning reading these writings each day with my morning coffee, I find they set my heart right first thing even if I am not fully awake. You can also pick up a pretty leather copy near the check out line at Hobby Lobby.
OK, here are Christy’s Favorite Things of 2022…
The Pura Scent Diffuser is the answer to the easiest way to make your house smell delicious, all the time. You simply plug this in, set a schedule on the app to turn it on and turn if off (so it doesn’t waste fragrance when you aren’t home or are asleep) and it automatically alternates between two scents. This company offers all the very best fragrances out there like Nest, Volcano, Antique Rustica, Crabtree and Evelyn and tons more. This is a lovely gift idea too. I get new scents monthly and love to change them out for the season, but the classics like the very popular Volcano included in this gift package is a great one at anytime.
These mini gold spoons are fun any time of year but especially at the holidays. These spoons are just one of those extra small but nice things that elevate every day life. I can just see them displayed on a hot cocoa bar or served alongside a decadent dessert. This is a great price for the set at less than $10.
This jarred ginger is not only pretty but it will elevate your cooking or your cocktails. It’s slow cooked Ginger, ready to be mixed in with drinks or desserts. I also think it would make a lovely hostess gift!
Finally, another favorite cookbook from the queen, Ina Garten. Her latest cookbook, Go-To Dinners, is all about accessible and easy meals. All of her cookbooks are filled with wonderful recipes but this one relies on simple, basic ingredients and nothing is too elaborate. I also have this and while I haven’t cooked anything from it yet, I am looking forward to trying the recipes for myself, especially the Watermelon Cosmopolitan and the Chocolate Cupcakes with Buttercream. Don’t they sound delicious?
Thank you for joining us today, we’ll be back with more gift guides next week!
