Today we are sharing some favorite picks for this time of year, including items from the new collection by Studio McGee launching at Target this weekend. We’ve rounded up some neutral, affordable decor to help you refresh your home especially if it is feeling a little empty now that the sparkle and glitz of the holidays is packed away.
Admittedly there is that much to do in January, unless you are a winter sports person (which I am not, cold weather is not my thing). So at this time of year between the snow days and the winter funk that sets in, I always feel like I need to not only organize my home but also give it a bit of a refresh. I notice that our home always seems a little cold and boring after all the holiday decor is packed up so I rounded up affordable decor to share today, both from Amazon and Target if you want to do a little refresh of your own.
The new collection from Studio McGee hit Target this month (the full launch happens Sunday, January 23rd so some products aren’t available until then), but the new products are getting quite a bit of attention. I always enjoy seeing what Studio McGee comes out with for new collections and like that everything is at reasonable price points. I didn’t really fully appreciate the McGee’s and their brand until I read their book when it was a free through Kindle Unlimited (It’s only $3 on Kindle right now), and I really enjoyed reading their story. It is nice to see a young couple be successful through hard work and, of course talent, they are certainly a force in the home decor world these days.
The Studio McGee look seems to be driving a lot of trends in home decor, like dark walls with light woods, brass fixtures and lots of textures (so much rattan in this collection!). It is an easy style to embrace, since most of the pieces blend right in with other styles be it farmhouse, traditional or even modern. Of course, since it is a Target collection the prices are very reasonable. I picked my favorite items to share today and admit I placed an order for a few things while I was putting this post together, I couldn’t resist.
1–Howell Upholstered Accent Chair with Wood Base: I think this is such a classic styleand would look great in any room. The wood accent makes it a little more interesting and trendy. I liked this so much I used it in the Neutral/Winter design board I posted on Instagram, I’ll show it here on the blog soon too.
Lantern Pendant–This is a great price for a gold, lantern style light. I can think of a few places I’d love to hang this in our home!
Square Embroidered Decorative Pillow–This was the first thing that caught my eye, and I loved it immediately. Apparently others felt the same way as this is almost sold out, at least it isn’t available in any of the stores near where I live. However, I did find a dupe I’ll include at the end of this post that I ordered, hopefully it is almost as good. Maybe it is in stock close to you if you love it too?
Table Lamp with Rattan Shade—This lamp just called out to me; I think the rattan shade is sweet and it has a vintage feel to it. I plan to use it in my office or it may find its way into my daughter’s room.
Lofty Cotton Wood Block Pillow Sham–Another pattern that I was instantly drawn too was this pretty block print. It just so happens we redecorated my daughter’s room in sage green right before Christmas so these will be perfect on her bed. I ordered two for her, though I could also see using them in our room for spring. I will show these once they arrive. There is also a matching quilt.
11×14 Framed Floral Canvas— The Studio McGee has a ton of art in their collections and again, the pieces look like they would cost much more than they do. I liked this sweet floral still life for Spring, it would be pretty propped on a kitchen counter or hung in a bathroom.
Zig Zag Woven Box–we actually have the smaller version of this woven box and it’s beautiful quality. These are great on a coffee table or console to hold random things–remotes, napkins, coasters, keepsakes, you name it. They look pretty and are an easy way to keep things from looking cluttered.
(Faux) Flowering Potted Thyme Plant–I always seem to add some faux plants (or sometimes real plants, though they tend to not live very long around here!) to our home at this time of year. It fills that void packing away all the Christmas decor tends to leave behind.
Woven Drawer Console Table–I have seen this table getting quite a bit of attention, and while it is a great piece that would look good almost anywhere I also attribute its popularity to the pretty much perfect staging they did in this photo. It all works together perfectly and practically (storage, lamp, mirror, art… right?). The woven inserts on the drawers add interest and the dark finish with pops of brass in the pulls makes it very on-trend for home decor right now. This other console didn’t make the collage but it is another favorite (if I just had a place to put it!) I hadn’t seen it in black before but love how it looks.
Vivian Park Upholstered Swivel Chair–This is on my list when it becomes available on Sunday. My husband and I were just discussing how unfortunate it is that the way our house is designed and our furniture fits in it that we can’t sit and take advantage of the view out to the lake behind our home. This chair is just what we need, it’s compact enough to fit in front of our fireplace and we could turn it to face out the window, problem solved. Hopefully I can grab one before it sells out, I expect things to go quickly on Sunday.
Burled Wood Console Table–I included this because it’s such a unique piece. The wood is both pretty and eye catching and the lighter wood tones would go with any decor. It would be perfect in an entry or hallway with a mirror and it is less than $200.
Woven Jacquard Pillow–I love both the pattern and the texture of this pillow. It seems to me like the perfect finishing touch with a grouping of other pillows on a couch. The color on the website is listed as blue/cream FYI though it looks gray to me.
Blue Cotton Floral Napkins (4-pack)–I ordered two sets of these for Spring. At just $2.50 a napkin it was a great way to get a set for a larger group, and the blue and green color will be perfect when we can finally eat outside again.
Midway Patio Furniture— It’s probably not a surprise that I really like this collection of outdoor furniture as it looks quite a bit like the set we purchased two years ago (see it here). The pops of gold on this set are fun, this is the loveseat and there is also a set of chairs and a larger sofa. I also love the table that coordinates, the whole collection is here.
Hopefully you saw some items you liked, many of the products are available now but the remainder goes live on Sunday!
Here are some other items I wanted to share that aren’t part of the Studio McGee collection, some I have purchased recently or I have on my wish list for Spring.
Poppy Floral Pillow–I mentioned above I found a dupe for the Studio McGee pillow (above) that is already sold out, and good news this one is only $14! I ordered one, but it hasn’t arrived yet. It looks very similar to me. The other tassel pillow shown is here and just $18.
Cookbook Stand–I ordered a cookbook stand that is similar to this (unfortunately it is already sold out) but I wanted to share this one. I don’t know what took so long to add one to our kitchen, I certainly have enough cookbooks to display! I use them all the time. What is also nice about this stand is that it is also perfect to hold an iPad if you use those for cooking videos or recipes.
Round Gold Mirror–something about this mirror caught my eye, I like that the gold rim is a little more substantial than some others out there. It is still less than $100. This one is only $60 for an even less pricey version.
I am thinking about ordering this faux baby’s breath, the stems are tall enough that in a larger vase they will make a nice statement. These seem appropriate for this time of year too, shortly everything will be all tulips and Easter eggs for spring, these stems still have a bit of a wintery feel.
We recently upgraded our salt and pepper mills for Cole & Mason mills and they definitely are a nice everyday luxury. They just work really well, that’s the best way I can describe them. We have the tall black and white versions (I found them at a local Williams Sonona Outlet), but this is the same brand at a lower price point.
These faux Olive Trees have been very popular in decorating the last few years but they can be pricey. I found this one for less than $100. These are a nice way to fill an empty corner and add some greenery to your home.
Did you know that they make the classic KitchenAid mixing bowl (for the stand mixer) in gold as well as silver? For those of you who prefer the bling of gold, this is a way to add some class to your appliance or your kitchen. Things you never knew you needed, right?!
I have shared before how much I love the Bliss Throws. We have several, and I recently added this pretty sage green to our collection. Green is a big color for this spring, this is SO cozy.
This is such a simple way to pretty up your home, these rattan tissue box covers. Again, something you may never have known you needed, but it is a nice way to add texture and cover up something that tends to not be in very pretty packaging.
We usually also include fashion in our Friday Favorites but this post is already running on, there was so much good home decor. Before I go, here is a rundown of some favorite sales I found in case clothes are more your speed!
Loft– including this darling heart sweater! (30% off), they have cute things in their Valentine’s collection here. This sweet sweater is just $25 with the code XOXO.
J. Crew Factory–This classic vest is only $25 and has a gingham lining, I am wearing mine as I am writing this! The popular City Coat is on sale in Green for less than $100.
Amazon–Pretty sure I am going to have to order this pink and cream cozy Sherpa sweatshirt if this cold weather keeps up!
Nordstrom–Thinking about ordering this dress in green, it is classic, feminine and pretty. It is always good to have a nice dress on hand for when you need it.
Well, that is the collection of favorites for today, I hope you enjoyed! Have a great weekend!
