So it’s that time of year again, when we share our very favorite things that make life beautiful, easier, and more organized (or all of the above). We both love writing these posts because there’s nothing more fun than sharing a great idea with a friend. We teamed up today so you can hear both of our favorites.
Lightning Headphone Adapter
If your family is like ours and you have a drawer full of earbuds that don’t fit your current phones, this $7.99 lightning adapter will enable you to plug them right in.
Cast Iron Dutch Oven
If I could only have one pot in my kitchen, it would be my 7 quart Staub round Dutch Oven. It cooks absolutely everything (you can even bake bread in it!) and nothing holds and distributes heat better than cast iron. I also have the 4-quart size, but if you can only pick one, wait for this one to go on sale and buy it without regret!
Aveda Lip Saver
Aveda Lip Saver is my favorite product to moisturize my always-dry-in-the-winter lips. I keep one in my purse and one by my bed. It lasts for hours without getting goopy.
Melatonin Gummies
I’ve started to have a hard time sleeping all the way through the night over the past few years, but when I take these melatonin gummies, I sleep so much better. They’re yummy, too!
Purse Organizer
I carry a lot of large purses and totes, and until I bought this felt purse organizer, I was always digging around the bottom for my wallet or keys. Best of all, I can just move it from one tote to another in seconds. It comes in seven colors and I love the little leash for my keys.
Olive Wood Holding Cross
My friend Carolyn gave me one of these olive wood crosses several years ago and they are just the right size to hold while you’re praying or sleeping. I’ve sent several to friends who have lost loved ones and need to (literally) cling to the cross, and everyone seems to love them.
Birdies
I’ve had these beautiful slippers for about a month now and I love them. They are SO comfortable. You can also wear them outside if you prefer.
I love mine so much that I’m going to ask for this cream pair lined with faux fur for Christmas.
City Coat
Last but not least, there’s a reason that we share this City Coat so frequently. I absolutely love mine. It fits so well (it’s true to size with room for a sweater underneath) and is cut beautifully. The gold zipper detail is pretty, too. It comes in five colors and is probably the best price of the season right now, around $100.
Those are my current favorites; now, I’ll hand it over to Amy:
Hi, this is Amy now and it’s my turn to share my favorite things. This week I was mulling over the things I used the most or brought me some joy in daily life and honestly, some of the items came to mind I realized I have shared in previous years. I guess that makes them good enough to share again! Here are my current favorites I thought worth passing along for this year’s “Favorites.”
L’Occitane Hand Creme
I have dry skin and was a germaphobe even before 2020 so I was always washing my hands. I discovered the L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Creme and am now addicted. While I consider it a bit of an indulgence it feels so good and makes my skin feel less dry, so if you want to treat yourself this just might be it. It is also available via Amazon.
Casaluna Bed Blanket
I recently added this chunky knit bed blanket to our bed and thought it was worth mentioning, not only does it look nice at the end of our bed but I feel like it is the perfect weight. This blanket has the trendy chunky knit of a throw but it is oversized to cover your entire bed. I purchased it earlier this fall after looking at some pricer blankets from some high end companies but thought I’d first give this a try. For the price it’s wonderful quality and really very soft.
Air Fryer
We jumped on the Air Fryer band wagon earlier this year and love it. My primary reason is that it is so easy to use (and simple to clean) but the best part is that it is safe and easy enough for my kids to use whenever they are hungry. More often then not, I find someone heating up an after school snack (vs. just grabbing chips) or sometimes they even make their own dinners. That in itself is a JOY 🙂 I have only made a few “recipes” in this handy cooking tool outside of the staples of French fries and chicken strips, (etc.) but hope to try some fun new things over the winter break.
This is a simple project (and yes also part of the “quarantine” organizing craze) but one that makes a difference in my day. For years my earrings were stored in several jewelry boxes, and while they were nice boxes, my earrings were all piled up in the compartments. I ordered an inexpensive jewelry tray and separated out the earrings I wear most. It sits on a tray in my closet and makes it so much easier to see what I have each day when I get dressed.
I have several pairs of these “Moonlight” pajamas by now, for all the seasons, they are pretty much all I wear. I love that they don’t wrinkle and they hold up great, plus they are nice and soft. The cute patterns go fast, and these also make a great gift idea!
Heated Mattress Pad
At this risk of sounding like a granny but if you live where it gets cold (or you tend to feel cold) then you totally need a heated mattress pad. Ours has separate controls so my husband can keep his lower since he runs hotter than I do, but these are really wonderful. I turn mine on before I start getting ready for bed, and then by the time I get to bed the sheets are all warm. It’s the little things, right? This is one of those things that once you have it is hard to go back. I just put mine back on our bed for the coming winter. PS I found the one we actually have on super sale here.
I discovered these easy to apply Bible tabs and love them, no more scrolling through the books in your head trying to remember where Romans falls in the line up, etc. These attach to any Bible and just take a few seconds to apply–such a great idea and they can go in your existing bible. A floral version is available here.
