If I have to be honest, I didn’t really think we were going to be an “Elf” family.
After all, there are only so many bandwagons one can jump on, right? 🙂
My older children seemed to be fine without an Elf pulling stunts about our home come December 1st. Or so I thought, until I saw the forlorn shrug my son gave me when all the kids at the bus stop recounted what their “Elf” had done on the morning of December 2nd.
So, I caved and our Elf arrived at our home a few days later, just in time for my daughter’s birthday.
Our Elf, her name is Gracie –courtesy of the birthday girl– is not the kind of Elf who gets in silly predicaments. Our Elf really just flits from spot to spot (when some of us aren’t too exhausted to remember to relocate her), and watches so she can update Santa as to “naughty” or “nice” list placement. She sometimes leaves a note or a treat, but really she is a pretty easy house guest to have around at this time of year.
And, last Saturday she made the kid’s the nicest little breakfast to celebrate the first day of their Christmas vacation!
The breakfast was super simple…just some strawberries, {and yes, packaged} cinnamon buns with some hot chocolate.
Breakfast was all set up for the sleepyheads in our already-decorated-for-Christmas dining room.
Because after all, when you are a kid, Christmas really starts when school gets out for vacation…
Despite the bed-head, the breakfast was a very nice way to kick-off the pre-holiday weekend.
The special breakfast was just the beginning, Gracie had another surprise up her sleeve. She sent the kids off for a visit with Santa just after breakfast. {Our little town does such a wonderful job with Christmas festivities}.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here!
And, just to be sure, Gracie made sure to include these honored guests at our breakfast table, lest you think we are missing the real reason for the season.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!
PS: We’re packing our bags and hitting the road to visit with Christy and her family just after Christmas–we can’t wait! Follow us shopping, eating and general “tourist-ing” in Savannah on Instagram HERE.
