OK, so this is what the top of my dresser used to look like…my jewelry was always overflowing my jewelry box. I admit I like ‘clunky’ jewelry so it takes up a lot of space!
Inspired by my dear friend Lydia, of BLESS THIS MESS Professional Organizing, I made this jewelry organizer after seeing how she organizes her jewelry.
{see pic below}
What I did was very easy. I just took a regular artist’s canvas (available at Michaels, JoAnn’s, etc) and covered it with some fabric I had already, just using a staple gun to attach the fabric along the back of the canvas.
Then I attached cabinet knobs–just the kind available at any Home Center– I bought (cheap) plain silver ones. I just drilled in little holes, inserted the screw that came with them, and then screwed them in along the edges of the canvas (obviously, where the wood frame is).
I also added some foam board (what I had lying around, thus the lovely navy blue color) to the back–adhered with glue–so I could also use pins or tacks to hold lighter pieces.
I added some wire to hang it, and here it is complete with my organized jewelry collection!
I love it, it actually makes picking a piece to wear out so much easier!
Thanks for stopping by!
