Hi there 11 Magnolia Lane Readers!  I’m Becky and I blog over at This Is Happiness where I share my journey to create a stylish home and beautiful life with my wonderful husband and two amazing children.  My passion is DIY and design, but I also love entertaining, food and fashion all of which you will find me sharing on my blog.

Today, I’m excited to be here with you guys to share our playroom organization.  Fortunately, we have a nice size playroom upstairs where we store all the toys.  I like to keep most of the toys out of the kids’ rooms and stored in here.  We have a couple of different storage areas in our playroom, but this wall storage system is the main one.

I wanted a place to help my kids organize their toys easily, but still wanted the space to be pretty. I went with bright, primary colors, which I choose because I have both boy and girl toys.  My goal was to make the space functional, cheerful and very kid friendly.

I love all the storage options this wall unit provides us.  Lots of cubbies for baskets and buckets as well as drawers.  The drawers are really nice to store all the kids’ movies and games.

The main wall system is from JCPenny’s, which was a fraction of the cost of the Pottery Barn Kids wall unit.  We’ve had it for about 4 years now and moved it to our new house and it has really held up well.  I found the framed animal pictures at Homegoods and I adore the positive messages on them.  The blue containers and green buckets are from The Land of Nod and the red baskets are from Garden Ridge.  The spice rack shelves above the TV and colorful frames are from Target.  And I picked up the rug and pillows from Ikea to complete the look.

Another helpful organization system in this space is this drawer cart (below) to organize our puzzles.  I finally got tired of all the beat up, falling apart puzzle boxes, so I decided to use this system to store the kids’ puzzles.  I cut the front picture from the box and included it in the drawer so they would still have a guide when putting the puzzles together.  The drawers also come all the way out, so they can carry the whole drawer to a hard surface and put the puzzle together.

This system has worked out really well for us.  When everything has a place it makes clean up much easier.  It’s really nice to have a space that helps us keep some of the toys contained, as well as a bright, cheerful space to play.  It’s definitely a space in our home that makes me smile 🙂

Thanks so much Christy and Amy for having me as your guest today and part of your Operation Organization Series!

We just redid our basement and the wall storage would be the perfect solution for toys (it is going to be a playroom). Love it!
