Are you shopped out after the holiday madness? Part of me is, but another part of me is also thinking about what to wear New Year’s Eve and in the coming winter months ahead. We’ve had unseasonably warm weather in Virginia (like much of the country) so I haven’t really broken out my real winter clothes–not that I am complaining about that!
I remember a time of my life when New Year’s Eve was all about higher than high heels, sequins and sparkly earrings. It was my favorite holiday; we’ve spent many a December 31 (often with Christy’s family and other college friends) ringing in the New Year till all hours of the night.
However now that we aren’t *quite* as young as we used to be we tend to enjoy the evening with our friends in a more casual setting. I thought I’d round up clothes that aren’t only about high-heels and sparkle {and a few “sale” finds too–’tis the post-Christmas sale season after all!}. In more recent years, our New Year’s plans typically involve less glitz and glam and more of a “step-up” from every day clothes. Right now, I may just wear one of the tops I mentioned in this post here— like this blue tunic {maybe with a fur vest though?} for New Years Eve. This is such a great basic you can dress up for a night out with leggings and heels.
If you are going out on the town, I had my eye on this dress as a contender to wear to my husband’s work Christmas party, it looks so comfortable but it’s still sparkly and fun. This store seems to always be my go-to for cocktail dresses. On the plus side you won’t freeze while wearing it and it’s certainly something you can wear it again, for a more casual look it would be cute with boots like these.
I am guessing this will be the year of the faux fur vest for New Year’s Eve in my circle of girlfriends, this one is pretty and a good deal.
If you are looking for something a bit dressier, Christy’s sequined skirt is something you can wear again and again, just be sure to pair it with a fabulous pair of heels to really make it a night to remember!

I bought this shirt last summer and see it now on sale, lucky for you all…
I will caution you it’s a little see-through but it’s very nice quality fabric and would look amazing with a pair of black leather leggings for New Year’s Eve along with a sparkly necklace— if your the type that can pull that look off! 🙂
This look above is a little more classic and conservative, but it’s perfect when you aren’t quite sure if the event is dressy or not {which to often seems to be the case, right?}, pair it with some cute capri pants, a fun necklace and darling leopard shoes this top will take you anywhere {also a steal of a price!}.
These bowties are a fun find for the men in our lives, we had these tucked away for a holiday fashion post that we ran out of time for, but I just ordered one for my teenage son {since bow-ties are ‘in’ with his crowd} and these are very well-priced. They have fun colors and festive regular gingham ties for men too.
Before I go, since it’s the half-yearly sale this necklace is discounted again, I wear it all the time. I wanted to be sure to share it again so you can snatch one up, for just $8 (shipped) how can you resist?
And, just a quick question but does anyone else NEED this sweater for the “morning after” like I feel I do? How perfect to snuggle in and watch the Parade on January 1st!
Hope you have a lovely day, and as always thank you for stopping by!

I really hate the fact that that white shirt had to be a see through but I guess I can find something to fix that. I really like that casual combination with the hat. Thanks for sharing these amazing outfit ideas.
