I have been doing projects here and there in our new house though it feels like forever till any rooms will actually be completely done. My daughter’s room is coming along nicely, so I thought today I would show you the progress going on in there. I showed this shot on instagram already, so it may look familiar. As I discussed in this post, she traveled out of town earlier this summer and as a surprise {and to keep from missing her too much!} I completed this art board for her with this fabric I fell in love with, you can read all about it here.
The room is still not complete, I will be redoing her bed {painting it pink with the awesome sprayer HomeRight just provided me, woo hoo!} and we’re replacing her dresser and updating her bedding so more to come. For now, I did jazz up her builder white walls with some fun and inexpensive gold decals {they’re available in our Etsy shop here} and added some new artwork. A can of Rust-Oleum metallic gold spray paint has been my BFF through this process. I used it to update the picture frames and even her curtain rods, yes–gold decor ‘bandwagon’ here we come!
And here is the corner with her Dress-Up Armoire and her Art Board
When we first moved into this house, I was crushed when I realized she now had two windows but only one set of curtains. I invested in her dupioni silk curtains at Pottery Barn when she was a newborn and I plan to use them as long as I can. My brilliant Mom simply said “just cut them in half” which worked perfectly since there isn’t that much space between the windows. Since we’ll be in this house a long time {please, no more moves!} it was the perfect solution.
Her little art wall is made up of a vintage french print that was in my room as a child, a frame I painted white and spray painted the little flower embellishment and an ETSY print from Farmhouse Printable–my daughter is a bit of a “force” shall we say? So the “Move Mountains” print spoke volumes to me.
Here is the funny thing, and maybe I shouldn’t admit this, but she actually doesn’t like the polkadots in the room, SIGH… so there will likely be another room update. She has her heart set on pink flowered wallpaper apparently?!? I haven’t been able to find one that either isn’t completely 1980’s or so gorgeous it’s been done to death already in the “blogosphere” {sorry, Anthropologie, I mean you}. Luckily all I have invested in this little makeover is a can of spray paint and some inexpensive decals–I guess that is the beauty of it–so when I come across the wallpaper she dreams of we can scratch this and update again.
In the meantime, I think it’s pretty cute.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by~

I love it! I made similar curtains for my daughter’s room since I couldn’t find ones wide enough that weren’t a fortune! http://www.carissamiss.com/2013/09/diy-vertical-stripe-curtains.html

All you would really need is just one wall.
Still, I LOVE the gold polka dots…they are so charming and fun!!

Amy your daughter’s room is SOOOOO adorable!! Makes me want to re-do my daughter’s room (again 🙂 ) Maybe you can reuse those gold polka dots elsewhere – they are so fun – and I also love the curtains!!

This is a beautiful room. Where did you find the small white table and chairs?
Christy says
I can answer that, since she borrowed them from my daughter. 🙂 They’re from Target, believe it or not. We recovered the seat cushions. If you search for ice cream table and chairs you might be able to find the set still.

Love your little girl’ room, but really need ideas for boy’s rooms, please. I don’t even know where to begin. It’s a small room – actually was originally an office – has 3 doors and a window. I’ll be watching for some ideas ………
Christy says
Hey Gwen, we have at least 4-5 posts on boys’ rooms. I Facebook messaged you the links, or you can click on the search box at the top right of any blog page and search for “boys rooms.” Good luck!
Trisha says
Where did you find the gold dot decals?
Amy says
Hi Trisha, I ordered them through Jane.com via a daily sale–the link is on our sidebar. I am sure you can find them on ETSY. I will be posting a “how I did” all the projects later this week, so I will try to source them for everyone in that post. In the meantime, you can try ETSY.com.
Have a great day!

What size gold dots did you get? The scale is perfect. I can’t tell if they are the 2″ or 3″. Thanks!
Christy says
They are 2″ and they’re available here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/203089432/30-gold-vinyl-circle-polka-dot-stickers Hope that helps!

Can you tell me where you found the white coverlet? Such a sweet room.
Amy says
Hi, thank you so much. I bought the coverlet many, many years ago via EBAY (searching vintage chenille might work?) It has worked out well for her and was inexpensive! I hope that helps.
Have a great day,
Amy
